This is the closest thing we've got on photos so far - taken during class by my wife on the move before things got exciting.  I should have the backdrop photo by the end of the day today hopefully.

We had a good show with some of our other calves too.  Sold the winning Class 4 Chi steer in Ring A (Fletchers) and a 2nd Place Maine steer (both Walks Alone calves).

Now, for what may seem like a stupid question; how is he Simmental? He won in the Simmental division, correct? Is this one of those things where they have to "sort" and he has to look simmental or is he actually Simmental by pedigree (dam side, obviously). Inquiring Simmental minds want to know

Texas shows have a set of rules for sifting based on visual appearance.  He did go through a sift and he did classify Simmental.  I couldn't tell you if the dam has Simmental in her or not, probably does somewhere for him to have the color pattern he does.

So what type of cow / color / breeding did he come out of?  REALLY like the calf and congrats to the entire family.

Well troubadour is a 3/4 charolais and im guess the cow is probably a black or black baldy or something with some paint could be a red paint, smokey paint cow even you never know..........

Hey guys I was blessed to be the lucky one workin for the chambers this past week when all this went on! Unbelievable experience and couldnt be more proud to have helped them the little bit i did! Its easy to present one when the family has worked as hard as the chambers have on their cattle! That steer is a super cool one pedigree and look. I had him clipped pretty tight if you cant tell in the pic, when the hair comes off that steer is still going to be there! I still get chills everytime someone ask about this calf or family. They know cattle and are a blast to be around. Thanks again Mr. Chambers!

I know it's July and all but a lot of calves seemed to be clipped a bit 'tighter' than in the past.  Is it a trend or has hair been harder to come by this year?

This calf's hair is fairly typical for what we usually have with no cooler.  I didnt pay a whole lot of attention to others.

Jeff I think the judges are just lookin for a more natural appearance instead of the massive type like in the past ive always prefered a little tighter clip job.
