Bismarck Female - Flush Ideas

Well I've done the unthinkable and offered up my favorite cow on the farm for sale.  We're offering a flush on her and now I'm getting all kinds of questions on what she should be flushed to.  You guys on Steerplanet are usually good at coming up with some creative ideas.  If you happen to have any interest in the flush or her calf (it's a choice lot) or questions feel free to PM me.

Any suggestions welcome.  Since the purchaser get ALL of the embryos, I have no breed preference.

I think I would see if I could find a couple of straws of BC Lookout 7024.  Also,  K Bar D Joe Canada 18Y
Reg: AAA 17011364 might work well here too and has what I consider desirable EPDs (except for heifer pregnancy).

"lot of the major faults" haha easy Justin!  That being said, if you're the last bidder you can breed her to whatever shorthorn mongrel you choose.

Interesting that you guys mentioned Joe Canada.  She is currently bred to a bull of mine with pretty similar breeding.  Silveras Style would work, but Docility becomes an issue stacking EXT, Net Worth, Hot Rod all together.

I was thinking of using a power bull on her (not unlike Joe Canada) such as Youngdale Xcaliber 32X, Visions Unanimous, Jindra Double Vision.  Something with a bit more frame and solid feet with lots of heel.  She is a Bismarck after all so feet are good but could use more heel.

I think the cow has more than enough power already.  I'd breed her to something that'll add some angularity/ femininity and thatll add a little forward lean to her stance.  Joe Canada looks like he'd just further accentuate the traits I personally would be looking to improve upon. If you want some andro looking heifers he's you're guy, but I'd never even consider using him.  It's hard to say how he's matured, but at least from his promo calf pic, the Silveiras style bull looks like he'd address what I feel are areas this cow could be improved upon and complement her nicely.

"Power" probably isn't the word I was looking for.  Frame/bone would be more accurate.  She's a small cow at my place.  In that pic she's only weighing about 1500-1600lbs.  The length and extension in the Unanimous progeny I've seen make him an interesting option, combined with his added frame and growth.  I haven't seen any Style progeny in the flesh but I know they look good in pictures...

Friends just had there heifer sale this past week, the 2 highest sellers were out of Dameron First Class, the next 2 high sellers were out of Exar Blue Chip and Style. Many of the heifers sold had Style on the bottom if not on the top

I think the cow is pretty interesting and When I first looked at her a couple of ideas passed through my head;
Angus:
for replacements and foundation cattle: BCC Bushwacker 41-93 I think could be a slam dunk
for show heifer type cattle: Skyfall or Northern Improvement. The skyfall calves I have seen have been really really good cattle.

You said breed didnt matter so I wont throw out true clubby-type bulls, but there are two bulls I really think could be used on her and make cows that create calves that pay the bills every year with a vacation to boot.

Rubys Wide Open!! I think hes the most underused simmy bull going. He makes really good females with unmatched hair for a simmy
Maximus!!! I used him on an angus just like her last year and it resulted in probably the best replacement heifer we've ever put back into the herd.

This is my take on her. My taste is usally a little out of the box at times, so take it for what its worth.

I ordered some Joe Canada semen for some dear friends. I think he is pretty unique, but seems to work better on more angular, sweet fronted cows. Like several of his sons as well (maybe better for your cow). Very functional type cattle.

Unanimous is also one of my new favorites and might be a great choice for your cow.

ZWT Chaperone is a real good one, too. It will be some line breeding with your cow, but...

Another bull that I really like to add frame and bone and over all pounds is vermilion X factor he could be a great option of you don't mind that he's a double muscle carrier but we haven't had any troubles

Xbar what you have to remember is the western boys like them as big as they can get me and don't mind them dirty fronted.

If I bought the flush, I would be aiming not at show heifers so much, but would probably lean toward some vintage bulls that are proven cowmakers such as leachman right time, vermillion dateline and Nichols extra k205.  Ambush 28 and bushwhacker would be potentials too.

I agree with GoWyo. I would go old school. If she were mine I would look into Simmental Leachman 600U, Or Power Drive for some really nice cows.

I could too.  I don't know too many Angus pedigrees but anything similar to EXT in phenotype is direction I'd be going.  Vermillion looks like a good fit in maybe the larger package you're looking for.
