What are some options on what to breed a good BIG reg char cow to.....please exclude Monopoly, I realize he would be a choice. We're looking for something different......

I like how my char x shorthorns have turned out. You might consider something from Jake's Proud Jazz to use on your cow. They compliment one another very well. The jazz influence on my smoke cow has made for a soft easy fleshing moderate female.

of course walks alone will make one thats got potential to be amazing, there was a calf down here in texas that we saw show and i walked across the pen to where the kids family was and they said he was out of the bull "its complicated".... its not mainstream- different for sure and if that one is at ft worth i suspect he will be in the top end of a class for sure!

never had heard of any charolais out of him but i became a fan

If you want something and I have seen a few on pb char cows try Black kat. Next to mono they were the best i've seen on char cows. HW you are running the risk of rat tails. Bojo....waste of time. If you want slop fronted cripples do bodacious. If it was up to me i'd do Mono and not have a second thought. Or stick with the char and do whats hot Firewater.

Have you considered using s good dark red Charolais bull or failing that a Full French bull?  You get to keep the papers and you stand to get a unique, marketable calf.

I would say any red clubby bull,,mab will be used heavy at our house this year,,red should reduce chance of rattail

Not sure why you say Bojo is a waste of time .. have you seen some of the very nice Bojo females selling lately ? have you seen the Bojo bull selling in the Western Elite sale ?

Seen a lot of Bojo's and I have yet to see one that I like. Only one i've heard of that was worth a hoot was Kroupa's steer this year at the NAILE. I will be in Denver, but one bull won't change my mind.

Why are you against Monopoly in this situation? Ifyou are raising Club Calves you have a great mating, he clicks with char females, especially ones with some frame. Just curious....
