I am looking to breed this heifer in the next couple months. I am open to any breed except Angus. I was thinking along the line of a Dream On son but give me your opinions. She is a Limousin (7/8) Cross Shorthorn (1/8).

Nice looking heifer.  Is she registered Limousin, whats her pedigree?

Simmental wouldn't be my first choice, I don't think the breeds compliment each other very well.

What are your goals for the calf?

You almost have a purebred heifer, why not breed her to a purebred bull?

We used Hunt Testament,  DHVO Deuce, and RUNL Stetson on our heifers this year.  If you are looking for a show heifer a new bull that might work would be FC Angels Answer.  If she needs moderation we have used Xerox and Excessive Force with pretty good success.

Good Luck!

I don't understand why you do not want angus? Maybe elaborate. Cause that's the hottest mating in the limousin in my opinion especially the way she's made little harder and tighter compositionally. An angus would soften her up. But since you are against angus I'd agree with Tyler on duece, or excessive force maybe xyloid, seen a few calves from him that are softer made

I would like to know what the 1/8 shorthorn is. There are some good shorthorn calving ease sires that would give you color. I have a dream on daughther we love her. She calved unassisted and was out of a 3CMacho/ Northern Improvement/WMW cow. I like what he did for us. Milks great and an excellent mother. I still have Dream On in the tank.

I definitely agree that she is a bit tighter made, I am against Angus because her full sister had an Angus calf this year and it didn't click very well (no growth). She is also a very moderate heifer. I would definitely like to square her up a bit.

She is not registered because all of her dams side is not registered, but we raised the cow family. The shorthorn was an old bull that our neighbor had out of Diamond Captain Mark 27C.

A friend of mine into Shorthorns suggested breeding her Saskvalley Yesterday or Capiche. I have a few straws of Dakota Gold as well. How would that compliment? I know very little about the club calf and shorthorn side of things.
