We have a bunch of old sprayer parts. It gets really hot here in Nebraska in the summer. If i could get a hose with some old nozzles set up, do you think it would work? If so, should i place the nozzles in front of the fan, or above the calves so it shoots down.

in college, we put the misters in front of the fan, watched where the mist went, and installed another fan at intervals for coverage with another mister in front.

Yeah, all the ones ive seen have been in front of the fans. We have 2 turbo fans in out barn. i thought maybe running them along the ceiling or hanging down a little and just spraying down on the calves would reduce the mess in the barn.

I like it when the misters are strung seperately. I loved it when my misters where strung diagional across my stall and then haveing
the turbo fan move the mister all over the stall.I think it keeps the stall cooler and not as messy.  It  gets to messy if u have them on the fan
as they are only going in one direction, my opinion!

Or if u have a bunch of stalls string them straight across the middle of the stalls and then have the fans move the mister all over the stall.

Home Depot carries mister parts during the summer for use on porches, etc. You can buy 1/2 pvc couplings that are tapped to take the nozzles just like Sullivans sells.  You can build a system with 1/2 inch pvc for next to nothing.  I put a nozzle about every 3 or 4 feet hanging across our stalls in front of the fans.

walmart carries misters for porchs also, they have 2 diffretn lenghts a row of 6 misters and a set of 12 misters. Its just like sullivans the rubber tubing and all u have to do is plug it into a water hose.

I had a filter and a timer on my misters.

Sprayer parts are fine, but as others have said, be sure and use the ultra-fine mister nozzles that are designed for people and/or animals rather than those for an ordinary field sprayer. Almost all field sprayer nozzles put out too much volume and end up just making a mess. The water evaporating is what causes cooling, so remember it's not necessary for the cattle to stay really wet.
