Looks like they are selling the cell line on Buttercup, Bojo's Dam, on breedersworld.  What would something like that go for??? What have similiar dam cell lines went for, for cloning purposes??

Just wondering.  20k doesn't sound too bad for a proven donor and accounting for the cost to make the clone.

It may just be me, but $20k plus is a chunk of change. Add , what, $10k to make a clone & then wait 3 years before you can start seeing a return on your money. I mean she's a good cow , but that's a heck of an investment with a long wait on your return.

The Texas cattle industry is totally different animal than the Midwest area. It's not at all uncommon to see people blow 30-50k on steers aimed at one show. Sure Midwest families spend the change too, but I think the cash flows a lot heavier there because a major show will truly pay you the cash down there. Brian Martin has himself a real following down there. Im not saying it'll go that high, but it's just my guess. The cow herself was a true freak, and that north west area of Texas has a big surplus of big producers that, in my mind, are licking their chops at this opportunity. A big investment? For sure. But it's one I believe many guys down there are willing to roll the dice on. Especially when she is more of a southern cow than a northern donor.

That pic really don't do her much justice - I've seen her in person and she was one nice beast. $20k is a lot to me (I sure couldn't afford to spend it) but those guys out there have a marketing advantage that a lot of breeders don't. Many of them have calves spread over 20 some odd states or more. I'm sure it will sell good........and they will make $$$$$$ off of it ...... one calf could pay for it.....

It's a long time and a lot of money from purchase till you'd ever be generating revenue on this kind of deal.

No on hair,  the ones I have seen have been a ear punch. Also saw a sample taken from the side or underneath of the tailhead.
