buying my first blower, advice needed.

so i am planing on buying my first livestock blower. i decided to buy new because i want it to last awhile and with used ones its hard to know how long they will last.  so im looking to spend under $250. what do you suggest.  im looking at the super showmans 4hp dryer or another. what do you think? again im 16 and am geting all my stuff on my own so i cant spend a fortune.

I bought one of these when I first started showing cattle and it is still my one and only blower.

It's not the fanciest thing but it gets the job done. The only bad thing about it is that the hose is kind of short but it doesn't really matter if you have a tame calf.

It's been stepped on, kicked, rained on, and dropped and has never given me any trouble. I've had it for about 7 years now. Plus, it's under $200.

Don't waste your$200.  Spend $350 for a Circuiteer® II Blower/Dryer.  You will be able to use it for 10 years, and then sell it for $100.

The Circuiteer II is nearly indestructible.  I would think that if you didn't use one a great deal, you could sell it for 1/2 your purchase price.  Or, you can buy an unknown $200 blower, and replace it every 2 - 3 years.

I know you don't want to buy a used blower, but call Sullvans. They usually have a few used ones for sale and I'm pretty sure they refurbish them first.

Go look at shulanberger's classified ad -- has a Sullivan blower for $250 and looks in decent shape.  A good blower is a must.  We have a Circuiteer II and it has taken a beating but works great.  Have only replaced a switch on it.  You will get most of your money back by selling it when you are done with it.

I have four blowers, all sullivan air express.  I bought one used about six years ago and haven't had a problem with it.  Sullivans do refurbish them.  I don't know if I just got lucky or buying them used is the way to go.  When I use one at home the used one is always the one I grab.  I guess I figure if it goes out I would rather it go out at home rather than at a show somewhere.
