carpe diem calf ?

i know relitivley what to expect but im looking for others oppinions i halve an alias heifer due to calve in 4 days bred to carpe diem is there anything that could go horibly wrong with the bull?

Shouldn't  be anything to terrible but you are using club calf genetics ,have a vet handy if you need it an consult with him ,plus  keep an eye on her until she calves ....

its my first heifer my mom wont stop watching her shes always shining a light out the window at like midnight lol. thanks for the addvice!

Just keep an eye on her and, if you're sure she stuck on that AI date, I wouldn't let her go over much, if at all.

Our CD's have come pretty easy and look pretty respectable.

One of my favorite fall born steers I saw this year was a Carpe Diem x Alias.  He was a red blaze face, and just really stout and complete.  I would have bought him, but he was already sold when I found him, and the new buyers wouldn't price him.  And we sold a CD x Tiger (Hereford) bull calf for really good money this spring, so I think you've got something to look forward to.

We've calved several Carpe Diems out of heifers, but they were mostly Herefords.  A couple needed a little help, but they weren't bad.  Used him on a pb Simmental cow and got an 84# calf, so I wouldn't worry too much.  Just watch her close, like you always should with a heifer.

I have had two bull calves out of first calf heifers.  They both came easy.  Nice calves.  Great dispositions.  Wish they had a tad more bone but it is hard to have it both ways.

its been and hour after the water broke what should i do no calf yet?

Is she just walking around and fluid is coming out or has a big fluid filled sac come out yet?

If it has been an hour after the water broke and this is a heifer, you need to at least get her in and ck out the calf presentation and it wouldn't be a bad idea to call your vet and have them decide if it is time to help her out. If you are a novice that is what more than likely you should do. Better too early than too late!!!

This one was our first Carpe Diem experience.  So far seems to be a pretty good all around calf, good disposition is a plus.  No holes, doesn't blow you away.  I certainly think they're very sellable. 

At least for northern county fairs I'd place my money he'll class herf.  For a 'herf' he's a good one in some ways, he sure doesn't look like one.  I was shooting for a CD baldy heifer, really.  The dam is a black brockle 600U cow.  For being 3/16 herf or something like that, CD sure threw the herf color pattern well out of a black brockle.

That seems to be the way with ours too.  They look okay when they are born, but through this point they just keep getting gradually better.  They might not be those square, chunky blocks when they are born, but they come a little easier and seem to grow on you each trip out to the pasture.  It's better to go that way than to be born great and fall apart.  How about structure on your guy's calves?

Most of my Carpe Deim are very good structurally, the spotted calf out of Carnac mother is traveling better as he gets older ,but he sure is plenty straight ....

im not gona say he isnt easy calving but itd be better for a 2nd year heifer or a second calf would be better cuz it weighed 105! the calf is doing great looks good has a brockel face red body and little white feet will post pics later thanks for all the pics and advice. the calf came easy after we got it feet straightened and head out and we realy had to pull because the hips locked they are both doing great!
