Here is the link to the story that ran on the local channel the other day!  They got the winnings wrong but it was a nice story.

Family and friends keep 4-H teen's memory alive

LAPORTE COUNTY — Family and friends of a LaPorte teenager are making sure he makes it to the fair...if only

His Herford steer-Homer- won RES GRAND CHAMP OVERALL behind he cross.  People that's no small feat as we have really tough calves at our fair.  His herf heifer was RES CHAMP also.

Chi steer wasn't sound enough to get much but he sells today and we are at about 10K right now

Good job to Bailey Rist for going booth to booth and raising about 500 bucks last night.  WOOHOO!!

The horse community of which my family is a part of has helped raise 3K also.

Will post the final amount today

This speaks volumes about what kind of person this young man was and about what kind of youngsters the parents of these kids are raising....  Kinda restores your faith in the future of mankind!

Very touching story, are the kids who prepared his calves and shown them on STEERPLANET?

I fit the calves, and Sarah Ambers showed the Hereford calves. I can't remember the name of the young man who showed the Chi steer.
