CIDR exposed after insertion

I was inserting some CIDRs today and had some troubles with a 3 year old. When I tried inserting the CIDR it wouldn't go in all the way and when I released it about an inch was still exposed. I tried inserting it deeper multiple time but it wouldn't go in all the way. Last october she had calving issues with a large calf coming out head first with its legs pinned back as a heifer so I dont know if that could of caused problems for her. She still cycles so I didn't think she was affected. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? I dont think I was in the urinary tract. Thanks.

I had a heifer last year that I could never get the CIDR in very deep.  She had no issues calving, but we tried on 2 different occasions to get her to set up for ET work with no success.  I ended up selling her.

I assume some just aren't as deep as others.

If you have the time and the set up for them, it is usually more effective to palpate them at the same time to ensure the CIDR is near or at the cervix for maximum affect.

I got her to the vet today, it turns out she got a bit tore up during her last calf. The vet said she had all sorts of scar tissue and pockets that will make it difficult for even a bull to get her bred and could cause future calving problems so shes going to the feed lot.
