CIDRS and timed AI

I'm going to college next year and I'm the one who catches the cows in heat bc my family doesn't know much about it. I would like to continue to AI everything. Will have about 10 cows. I think CIDRS would help so we could sinc more than one at a time and breed them that way. I don't know a whole lot about it and was wondering what yalls protocols were? Thanks in advance!

GnRH and CiDR in on Wed, pull CiDR and Lut following Wednesday and they should be ready to breed Saturday.

I have tried cidrs a few times and have and with small cow numbers. I would not use it again 65% come in heat and you settle 65% of that. Out of 10 head that doesn't leave you very many settled on the first cycle.

I've had 100% response on small numbers (6) and had a 83% settled 1st time. Guess every operation is different.

I have had 100% success 2 years in a row with the 7 day cidr protocol above.

I feed Vitaferm protein tubs with concept aid throughout the winter and give a shot of Multimin 90 when installing the cidr.

I also use the 7 day CIDR program exactly as stated above.  I have been doing it for 4-5 years now, and do two different groups (Recips and AI cows) to breed the same day.  Since I am putting in embryos, I also have the vet do the AI work while she is there.  Luck has varied from year to year, but overall about a 75% conception rate on AI cows and about 50-60% on the embryos, across all years.  I am doing about 20 cows total this way.

Your success will depend heavily on how close and involved you can be with the process. It is very time sensitive, and relying on family to do it can be disastrous. Speaking from personal experience, 2 years ago I calved 100% in August. In the past 2 years I haven't been able to manage my cattle closely myself, and now this year I was stuck with a herd of open cows in October. I broke down and bought a bull, and from here on out the plan is AI once then use the bull. I would be better off now if I had just picked up a bull 2 years ago.
That's my 2 cents on the matter. I also have been running around 10 cows.
