IMO nothing works better than SHADE... move your tank into or build something to cover it up where as little sun as possible gets to it... Barley, if you have a tractor supply they sell barley in burlap bags, it will take 3 for your 110gl tanks and will last a few weeks or ask you feed store if they can order them. you can also find them on the net..just google

ive used the barley in burlap sacks the past two years, works good...in fact, just put one in yesterday...

Put an end to the hassle of dumping and scrubbing those slimy green, unsanitary water tanks. 100% organic barley straw helps keep stock tanks clean and drinking water palatable for up to two mos. When barley straw is added to water, it begins to decay. This decaying process releases lignin which then interacts with algae and causes it to die. Completely safe and effective treatment contains no chemicals, pesticides or herbicides; no toxic side effects. Can be used with cattle, goats, sheep, swine, all breeds of horses, poultry, fish and even exotic animals. Also great for automatic waterers, bird baths, ornamental ponds and fountains. Easy to use; just place one unopened burlap bag in tank. One bag is good for an average 200 gal stock tank. For larger or extremely dirty tanks, use two bags. Begins working immediately but may take 7-10 days to notice its effects. Scoop out any floating debris. Replace every two mos. Burlap bag is completely biodegradable.

I don't use a scientfic meausering device for the bleach in the water but for 110 gallons, probably 2 cups. Only lasts a couple days, The tablets are much eaiser.
