When we go to "look" at cattle we have what we have.  If it will buy what we like then all are happy. We have left a few "good one" in the pasture at some places. Then to have them call a month or so latter saying they will deal on the one we liked. But the chance to sell us something was when we were there.

I have seen better cattle at lesser known breeders for lot less than at some of the better known ones. But what got me away from the big names was finding out that they "place" some of their best animals with a select few, which they are free to do so. But I am free to spend my money where ever I want to and I sure won't pay a premium to get less than top quality at some big named breeder.

Trying to jew on the price of a calf is ok just don't low ball them, but do so on clipping, hoof trimming etc you will most likely be told to find someone else to do it.
Please rephrase how you wrote this.   The way you use the word "jew" is offensive and should not be used in this manner on a public forum.  Thank you.
you know what you get when you throw a penny between two jews?

copper wire... (lol)

Ever hear about the Blonde Texan.......

The Bull and The Blonde Texan

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch in Texas. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock.Upon leaving for another ranch to check on the possibility of buying a bull, the brunette tells her sister, "When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home." The brunette arrives at the man's ranch, >inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it. The man tells her that he will sell it for $599. After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news. She walks into the telegraph office, and says, "I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch." "I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home." The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, "It's just 99 cents a word." Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette only has $1 left.
She realizes that she'll only be able to send her sister one word. After thinking for a few minutes, she nods, and says, "I want you to send her the word "Comfortable".
The operator shakes his head. "How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her the word, 'comfortable?'"
The brunette explains, "My sister's blonde. The word's big.  She'll read it slowly. "com-for-da-bull".

Point is I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a direct quote from www.dictionary.reference.com

"–adjective
4. Offensive . of Jews; Jewish.
–verb (used with object)
5. ( lowercase ) Offensive . to bargain sharply with; beat down in price (often fol. by down )."

As you can see, it is used as an adjective and it is used as verb and both times it is listed as OFENSIVE as I stated.  Bigots give cattle producers a bad name.

Point is get into the 21st century and find a less offensive way to express yourself.
I hate when people take over a topic and turn it into something else, get of your high horse and just enjoy this forum!!!!

Sorry to distract you all with trying to be civil.....no high horse here

Personally I do'nt see anything wrong with what you said at all. Appreciate the sensitivity. Too many times "farmers" get a reputation of being backwoods and culturally ignorant. Sometimes statements like the above do make us as a whole look somewhat ignorant. I am half Jewish but was raised in a Methodist church. For the most part when I hear things like that it just makes me chuckle. Reminds me of old timers. Many times most folks are just too old to change and I am understand that. But for younger folks there is no excuse.  Thanks Iowabeef!

They just don't make jews like Jesus any more.

Showing your ignorance and making unfounded statements you can't back up. You are getting really good at this AJ. I don't find your insult funny at all.

Jesus was a 'Judean', not a Jew. The term Judean and refers to a resident of Judea without regard to race or religion, just as the term "Texan" signifies a person living in Texas.

That quote was from a Kinky Freidman song. There is a passage that says "They don't make Jews like Jesus anymore". Was it the Romans or the jews who crucified Jesus?

Wow.  I understand that I am a "newbie" on this site, but is there any chance we can grow up just a bit?
