Ksu has played how many of the top 10 offences in the nation?  Beat all but 1 pretty good in my book.  If the sec teams had to play 5 of the top 10 or so Offences every season the D's would be a little less empressive.  Just like TCU, WVU, Boisie, etc... they can come up with 1 great game against a great team but put them in a big boy conference and see what happens.  Put the SEC D's in the big 12 or against Oregon like teams and the D's slip off huge.  Put the big 12 O's in the sec and they slip off alot as well.  PLAYOFF!!!!

Read yesterday that Notre Dame's vaunted defense has only played 1 team with an offense statistically rated in the top 50!  Perhaps that is part of the reason they look pretty stout, which I agree they do...Their offense is certainly not a juggernaut. 

As an interesting aside, Alabama's defense has only played 2 teams with top 50 rated offenses...and one of them thoroughly shredded the Alabama defense.

Parity is alive and well in college football. 

1.Was so glad to hear the USC QB isn't playing. Not that I am glad anyone was hurt, but I don't believe Notre Dame could beat USC if he was healthy.
2.You know who has the best defensive player in the country, the upcoming #1 draft choice and it ain't Notre Dame.
3. Anyone in the SEC from  the top down to about Vanderbilt beats Notre Dame. The top 4 beat them by 30.
4. Don't be surprised if Oregon doesn't win out, either.

How can you make these outlandish claims when an average at best A&M kicked the sh*t out of Alabama- the best team in the SEC? 2 QB's will be taken before your bulldog.  Oregon lost LAST WEEK to Stanford.  Take ND -6

Lets make one thing clear, there is only 1 big boy conference. In no particular order best teams in the nation today are Alabama, Georgia,  LSU,  South Carolina, Texas A&M.  Florida could be ranked to high although they do get their QB back this week. Nine of the best 15 teams in the country today play in the SEC. Notre Dame is not one of the best 15 teams in the country from a talent stand point. Every other conference has one or two good teams that play one or two real games a year and the rest are practice games. When you play the best teams in the country week in and week out, there will be some bad days and obviously this year no one could escape without at least one loss. Does that mean that on one day they can't lose? No. Alabama had their one bad game, probably won't have another.

Davis you see how many points Oregon scored on Stanford? A bunch of slow guys that could tackle? How many do you think they would score on an SEC defense that was as fast or faster than them? The reason all of these Big 12 teams have offense is because there is no defense. I realize you don't see much SEC football but the speed on these best SEC defenses surpasses that of the skill players on all these teams. The coaching surpasses other conferences. That's not to say on their best day vs another teams worst, anyone can beat anyone. But the athletes on defense are for real at the top of the SEC.

I do.  For starters, LaTech has the #1 overall offense in nation by both yardage and scoring, they’re no slouch.

However, the real difference between what LaTech and Alabama put up on the scoreboard was matchups.  A&M’s biggest weakness outside of its kicker this year has been man coverage corners.  Patton for LaTech (according to some, the projected #3 WR in next spring’s draft) went off on them racking up 233 yards and 4 TDs.  Did you notice the big plays Alabama got away with going over the top?  That’s what LatTech was getting away with all day using Patton.

That’s why the ‘average at best’ team (with the Heisman front runner, national sack leader, and three projected first rounders including two top five pics) had a better day of defense on the scoreboard against Alabama than LaTech.

A bad match up in the secondary opening up the rest of the offense is also what happened to K-State against Baylor.

We can quote stats all day and we can spin them back and forth. LA Monroe  obviously playing against a whole different caliber of team week in, week out than most FCS schools. I definitely pulled for A&M, am happy to have them in the conference, love the QB and I THINK I said it was my opinion that they are among the best 6 teams in the nation. It was your bong sucking fellow Texan who said they were mediocre. As far as what I saw in that game vs Alabama.... I saw Alabama fumbling the ball over and over without being hit, that's what I saw. That's why I said that the offense didn't play even an average game. Most of the fumbles had nothing to do with how good A&M played, but how poorly Alabama played all by themselves. But it doesn't matter why the won, they were certainly good enough to win on that day. If they played again.........a hundred times...........it wouldn't happen often.

Yes you are right Jeff it was LA Tech. My mistake. And it's still LA Tech. La Tech who has no business being ranked in the top 100 because outside of Texas A&M they haven't played anyone in the top 500.

Having a hard time reading through that purple haze, are you? You into the Doritos yet?  I did mention the speed of Oregon. I just said it's no more than the top SEC teams on defense. And I mentioned that the big slow white boys from Stanford didn't seem to have too much trouble with their speed. If Oregon played in the SEC they are not among the top 6 teams. Period. Notre Dame is not among the top 9. Period. That's not to say anyone can't beat anyone on a given day. See K state and Baylor.

And while you are just throwing out academic hog wash by the mouthful, here is a fact for you. SEC football is third in APR (the NCAA metric for measuring academics adjusted for difficulty in chosen major fields of study) among all conferences behind the Big ten and the ACC. The Big 12 is 6 and the PAC 12 is 7. There are 5 schools in the SEC with ridiculously low scores and they are Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and ................Texas A&M with A&M being only16 points from academic probation by the NCAA and the other four teams even lower. Your beloved Ducks are only 18 points away and those scholar athletes at Notre Dame rank at or below such bastions of scholarship as Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Boise State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, TCU, Clemson, Miami, Rice and........Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois and University of Central Florida. Schools that the golden domers are supposed to be on par with like Vanderbilt, Duke, Ga Tech, Standford, Northwestern, and Rutgers, those schools smoke Notre Dame according to the NCAA report of June 24,2012.  Now you can mouth off all the THC fogged crapola you want, but those are the facts, not my facts, the NCAA facts.

I've been a Notre Dame fan since I was a kid (its a Catholic thing) and I'm glad they get a chance, but I dont think they can beat the SEC rep.  Whoever it is better come out swinging because Notre Dame thrives in close games.

Went to my first A&M game last week.  My 13 year old has been to three - saw RG3 last year.  If Manziel wins the Heisman this year, he'll have seen a Heisman winner every game he's been to. 

What a year for A&M.  They now have a huge leg up in Tx.  There is a real chance there will be a national champion in College Station in 2-3 yrs.

Ohio State will be a handfull going forward.
