I have noticed more and more online sales selling Spring born calves this month.

Calves should not even be weaned yet, let alone sold and on feed at two months old.

Not a good trend to be starting in my personal opinion.

I was not able to see that made clear in the sale "terms."

Maybe I just missed it.

Most are to be picked up in July / August, but you are right, it would be nice if it was all made clear in the footnotes.

I saw a sale coming in a few days selling Spring borns that they are to be picked up within 10 days or a fee will start being charged.

Here are the terms for Kopp Land and Livestock's sale this month. 

A minimum of 20% of purchase price due to Willoughby Sales on or before May 16, 2017.  Remaining balance due at pickup but no later than Sept. 1, 2017 to Kopp Land and Livestock.  Calves are guaranteed to be sound, free of pinkeye and creep fed all summer.  We will assist in finding and coordinating  transportation.  Thanks for your interest in our sale.

I have found this to be pretty typical this time of year, even on a private treaty arrangement.

buyer is responsible to coordinate delivery and buyer is to cover all cost of delivery. Arrangements need to be made prior to or immediately after purchase. No animals will be delivered until payment has been made. All animals must be picked up within 10 days after the auction. Sellers may charge up to $5.00 per day for animals not removed from the farm within 10 days after the auction. Delivery fees may be charged by the seller if necessary. Purchases may be picked up at the farms any time after the conclusion of the auction and full payment is received. Call the seller to schedule an appointment.

I assume that this is the terms and conditions used for other sales that this person/farm has, and they forgot to double check what it says.  Unless they have Thanksgiving calves (and even that would be pushing it) that they are selling as "spring borns", lets get real, Jan/Feb isn't spring.  I don't know of a single cattleman that would let a 4 month old calf leave their farm without the momma cow going as well.

I have also seen this. I think the OP's concern is that they are selling calves that were born in February/March.
Not to offend anyone, but don't all babies look good at that point. haha.
This guy will not being overpaying for 2 month old calves, no matter how long they keep em.
