In addition to the other meaningless and useless stats that we keep track of here on Cattle.com, I'm adding a measurement of forum activity for the 'major' cattle forums.  It's based on the percentage of topics and replies on each of the forums over a specified period of time.

Based on forum activity between October 1st and October 13th...

Cattle-Today : 47.76%
Steerplanet : 31.86%
5BarX : 7.37%
Advantage Cattle Services : 6.50%
Breedersworld : 5.54%
Clubcalves : 0.73%
Showsteers : 0.20%
No, that's not a typo, Showsteers.com is dead last of the seven tracked.  I double and triple checked that before even thinking about posting this.  The one time king of the Internet forums for show jocks has been all but killed off by relative upstart Steerplanet.com a forum that didn't even exist two-years ago.

Wow! I can't believe it. I don't think we've been on the list hardly ever.
It's all because of the wonderful people here. As I've said before, it's not based on one person but an entire family/community!

Just a note, we have increased in members, posts, and threads almost every single month.  We are also almost 2.5 times up in every single category during this month, compared to this month last year.

we need another genetic defect that has a test to stir things up again, say for MM or SP.  actually, i think SP is on the front burner now that I think of it.

Hooray for us!!!  I am most impressed that growth is possible with a board that doesn't allow flaming and we treat each other with respect, even when we disagree.  And, if comments start to get caustic with issues that are "hot", the moderators step in courteously to nip it in the bud.  Just goes to show you that people can come together, discuss (even topics that we aren't necesssarily in agreement with) and learn from each other.  Not to mention that there's a fair amount of fun going on here!  (dog) (dog) (dog)

apart of the success is that this is one of the only boards that has member profiles, someone says somethin nasty on clubcalves, they can just change the name. also i like how when a thread gets a post, it comes back to the top

Excellent.  I used to spend alot of time on BW.  This site is more real.  When someone posts something right or wrong you know that's their opinion.  With a profile you have an identity that you can't change easily.  On the others you can say something untrue just to flame and get by with it.

I also love the ability to share pictures and not be slammed for promoting your own.

we've had a few problem children but most are able to rein it in. I like the map where you can see where others live.

I truly think that if Jason would put more time in here we'd get some great advertising opportunities.
