I was just wondering if anyone has seen Connealy Thunder's progeny and how they were looking?

I've got one Thunder calf on the ground this fall.  Seems to be a pretty nice calf for a first calf heifer.  She calved with no problems and it seems to be growing good, but its a little young yet.

Thanks would love to see pics! I've heard that he is supposed to be a really good bull but I haven't seen any calves out of him yet. Keep me posted on how your fall calf comes along please. Worthabit I would love to here about yours when they calve.

Here is a pick of our Thunder heifer that I snapped with my cell phone.  Sorry about the mud.  ;D  Her dam is a compact made first calf heifer sired by Bismark out of a 5175 cow.  I had another heifer bred to Thunder, but she got into something and aborted her calf last month.

She's growing good.  Her dam and granddam don't have the style for show calves, but they're real beef animals.  Losing the other calf sucked, but I've got some cool pics of the aborted calf.  Maybe I'll post them on here.  The sun and wind the last couple of days has done alot to dry up our mud.  If the rain will hold off for another week or so, I might be able to go to the barn without mud boots (lol)

Great that she is growing good! How far along was the one that aborted? We've had quite a bit of wind here to, so I hope it drys up.  (lol) It would be nice to go out in non-mud boots lmao!! I love snow and pretty disappointed that it hasn't yet. We get snow in Oct. but flurries here and there. What's up with that  (lol)!?

The one that aborted was between 6-7 months along.  I sent the fetus and placenta to the necropsy lab, but they didn't come up with any infectious causes (which is good).  We think she probably ate some bad hay.

I'm glad to hear that she didn't have a contagious disease!! That could have ended up badly for you! 6-7 months that really sucks! Are you going to keep her or ship her off to the stock yard? Oh guess what, ground is frozen and a dusting of snow! YAY LOL No mud for a little bit lol.

Here are our two calves. 4Z was born Jan 6th  3 days late at 82 lbs from a MVF VRD Dateline heifer . He was larger framed than I expected. 19Z was born Feb 10th  6 days late at 50 lbs from a Youngdale Touchdown 36M heifer. I know some of you like these 50 pounders and I will reserve judgement until weaning but I think they are too small. There is no reason why a 1200 lb good conditioned heifer can't have a 75-85lb calf unassisted.

Nice looking calves! Will be interesting to see once they get they going! Thanks for the pictures!  <beer> What are your plans for the 2 of them? Are you going to show them or just sell them at weaning? Keep me posted how they progress and if you think about it would love to see updated pics.  ;D
