Cotton Seed Hulls??

I really don't feel like posting anything today, but like SD said..Cathy would not like us to be like that.

Anyway, I was wondering if adding cottonseed hulls to a steer's feed ration is just to be used as a filler,or does it have any other benefits to it?  Just me wondering....Lisa

from what i understand, they are pretty oily too and will help with a smooth finish and will be good for the haircoat too. overall i think they are a pretty good feed supplement because every mix that i know of has some in it.

The nutritional value of cottonseed hulls is not that great.  They are what are left after the seed is crushed and the oil is removed.  The main thing they provide in a ration is "scratch" or roughage so that the rumen works correctly. 
They are used in most show cattle rations to add roughage.  Cattle seem to like them and they help fill them up.
