Cow & calf classes

Question for you guys that show in the cow / calf classes...........How do you keep that cows udder looking presentable? How do you avoid chapped and cracked teats when you have a big soggy bull calf beating the heck out of it 2-3 times a day? And wouldn't the judge rather see a lactating female rather than one that has been dried up to heal??
