First off justme....that was a humor statement...hence the smiley faces. Relax  and take a breath ok.

Cowboy, I just remember you always telling me how you hunted in IL for a few days every time you went out there. I was hoping you didn't consider that work, especially since hunting  at my house consist of standing out the door and shooting!!    Didn't mean to come off as "witchy" as justme insinuated....just making conversation. I 'll stop now.

Sorry every one -- I've been a little distracted since getting back --forgive me.

There was a huge croud up in Iowa this past weekend, a constant stream of folks from all over the country came rolling thru the area. It was a real sight to see -- even witnessed a tour bus come into the drive and TRIED to get turned around -- I tihnk they were from the East Coast -- Carolinas some where -- it was hilarious for sure.

All in all -- I had a blast -- cooked some for the crew on Sat and Sunday. Brisket and Steak Fahitas -- I can still taste em!

Juli and Brad did a tremendous job up there -- the sale facilities were first rate -- the cattle looked and ACTED tremendous too.

After seeing a couple hundred people walk thru the pens and look at all the calves, not only Max -- I was at awe at how smooth everything went.

Max looked extrememly good up there -- however -- the bids recieved came from folks who had seen him earlier at home. MIght be the RED was just too MOD -- heheheh. The final bid on him was 4250 -- and I am thrilled, it's not every day you can take an unregistered calf and get the price of 8 sale barn calves for him. I was sad to leave him there -- but I had to make tracks for home.

I look at the weekend as a very positive event for me not only this year -- but for the last several years combined. Glad I did it, and would go again in a minute. Meybe next year I'll try and take a black one -- we do have several JOE babies coming this next spring, they should be very very good too!

Congrats Brad and Juli on a fine sale and a great set of cattle. ;D

Chef Cowboy... Heard you're a darn good cook. Thought I smelled those briskets a cookin after the Northern blew in, all the way down here in Texas. I think 4250 is a very good price for a calf. Especially when all the calves were hand picked for this one sale. Glad you had a blast. That's what it's all about.

Who ended up getting the calf so we can try to follow up on him through out the year.  Will he stay a bull  or become a soprano?
