Don't know him, but hope he has a speedy recovery.

Don't know the details of his wreck, but almost every report I've seen of ATV wrecks injuring/killing folks around here for years have been folks driving them on paved roads - and either losing control or being hit by cars/trucks.  Used to have one kid in the neighborhood that would rocket up & down the highway on one here - pretty sure he was going over 50mph - faster than I'd drive a car on our road.
They are off-road vehicles, not meant for use on hard-surface roads - they don't 'handle right' on pavement, and it's easy to lose control.  Always had to impress upon my kids that the ATV was a farm implement, not a toy, not a racecar.

Cowboy is headed home. He is looking at 8 weeks of doing nothing and another 8 weeks after that of very limited activity. Any way you look at it it will be 4 to 5 months of not being able to work or have any income. He already has a mountain of medical bills that will continue to pile up not to mention the daily bills that we all incur on a daily basis. There has been a couple of inquiries from people wanting to know if there will be any type of fundraiser for him. I am all for it and will help as much as I can. If you have suggestions by all means post them. Thanks, RW

We could do a fundraising online sale through Breedersworld or Caldwell....or Steerplanet if that is still a thing we're trying out.  I'd be glad to help set it up and donate an embryo package and/or some services.  I know we could barely hope to touch the medical bills but it may help with the day to day expense.  We could also do something like offer an ad on this site if you sponsor feed for Terry's animals for a month or something.  I know I'd be interested in that as well.

I've never been able to use Terry for any direct ET work like I'd like to, but he's been a wealth of information and really really helped me out when I was just learning about ET. The man has more cow sense in his little toe than many so-called "experts" have in their entire bodies.

I'd be glad to donate and assist with any fundraising event anyone does.

I would also be glad to offer some semen in a sale. Not just leftover junk from the past either. Let's help out our friend !!

I would be more than glad to donate semen.  It's some I might not use (wrong breed) but very useful for others.  I suggest Breedersworld.  Could someone that have used them for their own sales contact Roger?  If we donate semen, is there a way to minimize or get a semen company to contribute toward shipping costs?  I have benefitted from Terry's free advice on this forum, and have contacted him directly by email.  Very helpful and knowledgeable.  Wish him a full, speedy recovery!!

Over 900 readings of RW's original post in the first 24 hours (while many were busy in the field).  This indicates the level of connection SP members have with Terry.  Definitely, a fundraiser is appropriate.  Many of us have already received the goods.  I would suggest a feature that would include as many contributors as possible.  If a large percentage contributed based on their ability, perhaps the value of a quick farm vet visit or even the value of an embryo implant service, it would add up.  Actual fund raising items add logistics and costs.
Another scenario that works well;  valuable item that a group purchases and then donate into the auction, again.  Hopefully the service venue chosen could include this option.

Count me in as a donor and a buyer if a fundraiser is held. Just let me know when and where.

He texted me the other day, said my old cow was in heat and he was gonna set her up.  He's still got some recovering to do.  But I'm here to tell ya, that ol boy is the definition of a cowboy that's tough as nails.

I've been off of the grid for awhile and this is the first time I've had a chance to get on here. Terry is recuperating slowly as you would expect. Yes he is a tough old bugger, but here is the rest of the story. The majority of the donors that he had left within days of his being hurt and have not returned. The "ranch manager" that runs the place he is living on is threatening to throw him and his family off the ranch even though his family has stepped up and taken care of most of the day to day work that Terry would normally be doing as part of his rent agreement. The Readers Digest version of this story is that Terry and his family need help to survive. He is far too proud to ask anyone for help and I'm sure that I will get a good sized piece of my hind side chewed off for this. So here I am asking the multitude of Steer Planet families to help one who has helped so many over the years. If Jason could come up with some sort of a fundraising Steer Planet "auction" that would be a huge bonus. So, I encourage you to start thinking about what you could donate, especially those of us who Terry has helped over the years. Let's get the ball rolling! RW
