well sounds good to me ill prob be shootin with a 12 guage with deer slugs in it whats everyone gettin for pelts just got told round here you only get bout 5 bucks

probably don't even need to save the pelt on them.. shoot and leave em lay.
as for weapony i use .223, either the bushmaster or the ruger mini 14 , my buddies hate when we go hunting and i knock a coyote at 200 yards and they all got 22 mags and wait till 75-100 yards to hit em lol but i have been known to use my winchester 25-06, but i hate spending $1.75 a bullet on a coyote that isn't even worth 5 bucks.

seems like since my brother and i moved away to college and are unable to go "hunting/shooting " the varments have kreeped into my folks place, raccons in the hay loft scared the hell out of my mom one day, and the damn pigeons piss me off everytime i visit the folks, and the coyotes were in the calf loafing shed before we chased them out of there to get ready for calving. oh and for my dad's sake the damn deer keep running throug the hot wire ( that might change look up Nebraska LB 836)

We use a 30/30 lever action for the most part. Usually have a god bit of distance to get them at because of the terrain. Knocks them dead though.

R700 30.06 with a tasco 6-24x42 scope. Never seen one get up after being shot. The only movement they make after the shot is down.

A little off topic, but to control feral hogs (and a few coyotes) our hunters hired a 4-seater helicopter, sold seats on it, and they shoot hogs and coyotes in the air with an AK-47 and a 12-gauge shotgun with buckshot. They covered ~3000 acres and killed 80 hogs, 9 coyotes, and 1 bobcat. This is the 3rd year they've done it and it really helps with the feral hog population. Plus they have a great time doing it.

Low flying airplane and 12 guage with buck shot is what the pro predator management guys use here.  I like the .243 off the deck of the house when the opportunity presents itself.  Sometimes the .300 WSM if I feel like splurging a little.

Me in the buddies declared war on the coyotes this year. Using rifles shot guns traps and snowmobiles. We have done quite the number on the population. Just the other night we were calling by the moonlight and we called three of them in within 10 yards they had no clue we were there, lets just say the benellis came though on all of them.

This is also off subject but i was wondering if anyone knew ways to get the deer to leave our feed yard. They are in the ground hay and silage piles all day long and come up to eat with the cows. You cant chase them off because they trot off about 50 yards then come back. When we park the feed wagon they fight to go up to it and eat corn out of the spout...really getting old feeding all of them.

You cant chase them off because they trot off about 50 yards then come back. When we park the feed wagon they fight to go up to it and eat corn out of the spout...really getting old feeding all of them.

umm look a few post above...... 300SWM, 223, 243, 308, 12ga....take your pick!

oh yeah: add 2 onions, McCormick's 30 minute marinade - teriaki flavor- over nite and put it on the bbq grill till medium well


we have the same problem and you kill 12 of them during the season and that doesn't even affect them... check out Nebraska LB 836, hopefully this will help us out

We had a problem a couple years ago, but knock on wood as of late, it has been relatively quiet.  We used a wounded rabbit call and hit them as they cleared the tree line with a .306

By 10:30 saturday our local group had 8 coyotes down for the count for the day.... using snowmobiles to get them movin
As for my gun of choice I would love to use a 22-.250 or an ar-15 in .223 caliber but my budget doesnt afford these so i'll stick to my trusty .22 mag under 200 yards and they might as well lay down and play dead.. also have had good success with a .22 just out checking cows very versatile gun if you are accurate enough to use it

  You set me up next fall and I can gladly bring me a two others to come out and take our limit with bows during deer season. We are alway looking for a place to hunt out of state.

Wild dogs are worse than coyotes.  But we lose 2-3 calves a year to coyotes.  They flat out stalk the cows during calving.  I dont hate them - they are just trying to eat - but I do shoot them or at them enough to make them scared of us.

was wondering if anyone knew where i could get some snare traps?

Try your state department of Ag or the wildlife division of it. They trap some animals and lend out traps, just not sure on which type of traps they could have. It is worth a shot and if that fails, maybe you will talk to someone there who has a "friend" that will loan some out. I HATE coyotes, they scare the crap out of me, so hunt till you can't hunt any more, PLEASE!!!

them so they do not go out with out a gun.Same one hears them coming in at night and his wife holds the spot and he
shoots the243 right out the bedroom second story window
