Hmmmmmmm. Wonder if that pedigree info means Boyd New Day as the maternal grandsire and it implies it to be an Angus dam. What are the odds of the calf being red in color? What are the odds of two black Angus producing a Red Angus offspring?

That's the way I read it, Solo Cup is out of angus New Day daughter.  I have had a few red calves out of black angus parents.  In order for this to happen, both parents must possess the red recessive gene.  If the dam of Solo Cup goes back to a red gene carrier (R&J Dallas, R&J Bullet, Kruggerrand 490, etc.), it is fully conceiveable that she would have a recessive gene for red color.  We all know Walks Alone is not homozygous black so it is possible that Solo Cup is out of a straight angus cow.

aandtcattle are you referring to Kruggerrand of Donamere 490 as being a red gene carrier?  I do not recall ever hearing that or seeing any red cattle that would trace the red gene to him.

So your advertising flyer is promoting false info?  I did not see on there once where Sim was listed...  Just skipped a generation??

This is why no one wants to put a their bull on here.  The beating starts immediately.  I would really want to state i'm taking my bull to denver, then have him beat up before he ever sets foot out there.  Seems to me there's some confusion here.  Actually, if New Day is an angus bull, this is a walks alone x angus.  He didn't say papered or purebred angus.  It was incorrect that he is a waks alone x simm angus.  walks alone x angus simmi would be correct.  No generation skipping occurred if you did not mention the next generation back, simmi.  Toby Keith, like him or not, made more money than anyone else in country music last year.  He's doing something right.  Correct me if i'm wrong.

This is a perfect example in my opinion why so many good bulls don't make their way to Denver.  You can't even mention a bull without someone bashing him to the ground. We have a bull we wanted to bring to the hill and show in the Maine show.  After talking it through with all the partners we decided it might be best to leave him home.  For no other reason than this post. Someone who hasn't seen the bull, know any of the owners or our operations can sit on their computer and tell the whole world how terrible our bull is. This is why I personally have so much respect for Lautners and the like.  Like them or not they put their bulls out there for everyone to pick apart.  That does take B***s.  There are so many factors in having a succesfull trip to Denver with your best calf.  How they handle the trip, being in a different enviroment for so long,  making sure the animal feels like a million bucks while on display (so he looks like a million bucks) and for must of us the $$$.  One bad day in Denver could spell the end of your bull in most peoples eyes.  True not everyone will like my cattle, and maybe i don't have thick enough skin for this.  It just bugs me how many bulls are absolutely junk in the eyes of the so many people hiding behind screen names.  It is hard work and a real comittement to put your cattle out there. If nothing else as we come into the Denver time of the year please keep that in mind and give the respect to the people willing to put their best out there for the world to pick apart.

No, the way the flyer reads....  Walks Alone x New Day (Angus Dam)... The way I understand it- New Day is an Angus bull (according to the people on here, and the OP)  It then says ANGUS DAM- meaning (atleast maybe to me and plenty of others-- that an ANGUS Cow, was mated to NEW DAY (an angus bull), and THEN mated to WALKS ALONE to create this RED Calf...

Whoa there man. I don't post on here that often, but when I do it is never in a bashing context. I was making a joke with my statement, as if the name of the bull actually had any bearing as to what his genetics are.

I went to Oklahoma State, toby keith is a huge OU homer, (he actually has an "honorary degree" from OU, which has then been mis-used by commentators during games as saying, there is toby keith on the sideline, one of the many famous ou alums) this is why I don't really like toby keith, and i'm not a big fan of his new music. His older stuff was pretty good though.

I'm also not sure how me not liking him has anything to do with him making more money than anyone else in country music, its just my preference. Lady GaGa made about 4 times what toby keith did...does that mean you and I have every one of her cd's?

I had a friend that had a Red Walks Alone Heifer that was out of a purebred angus dam (Hoff x 6807)
