Yes, it is a very unfortunate situation if true. The family is from our county & also show in our fair.

people are saying the calf was shown by 3 different owners in 45 days

Some people say the judge was high. O0

Some people say the steer was junk.

Basically boo hoo waa waa Gonna complain on a website where my name is hid and I cannot be held responsible for my accusations.

Pathetic.

This is pretty typical of people that loose. I've noticed that several posts have been pulled by BW. I agree that useless that facts are completely verified it's sad to call vilianize a family. Callie seemed like a very good little showman. She started showing at a very young age. I feel very sorry that a child is the object of rumours even if they are directed towards her family.
I know when we won the Maine heifer show at Louisville there were many sore feelings & accusation. It take away the pure joy of owning a champion.

just my 2 cents worth.

I agree why say a bunch of crap after the show.  I guess nobody "reconized" this calf before the show.

I hope the true facts come out- I do recognize the steer in the picture, he won alot of shows in Iowa, however it is legal to purchase the steers it just when and by whom
I think is the thing thats being talked about.  I just hope for all involved the proper rules were followed.  that was one good steer at least in Iowa he was.  I never do care about
the adults they mostly have made their bed....  but its the kids......  my kids would have just dreamed to have a steer that good to show.

I did talk to a buddy that was there and said he thought the steer could have maybe been in most peoples top 5.  I guess there were alot of really good black cattle that got left standing.  This person is actually from Ohio also.

The problem with any show is that there are going to be a lot of good ones left standing.  That means for every happy champion there are...  How many that didn't win??

I understand that there will always be good ones that don't but from the people that I talked to the ones that did should not have, and we didn't have any ties to any of the cattle.  I have also seen Mr. Farrer do this before.

I don't know the calf but have heard he was a good one.      What I hate is when they stack the champion drive up with lessor cattle to make that one particular calf look really good.

I managed to get through the breedersworld posts regarding NAILE.

I think people need to realize when it comes to these national steers shows that its a whole another ball game.  Its basically who can show up with the best calf that day.  As long as they had their ducks in a row and got him entered right, thats all you can really expect.  These national shows aren't about a 4-H project in the same way county fairs are.  It's more or less one big free for all which is what makes it fun.  No ones wants a rule nazi running around the barn getting good calves kicked out of the show.  Generally more rules=less numbers, lesser quality, and less fun.   I would like to know who people think they're kidding when they say its about the kids??  BS  It's a game like anything else that people play to try and win.  These big steer shows are as much about the kid as the kentucky derby is about the jockey.  It's a game that the big boys play, don't get beat and then try and say the steer shouldn't have won because of a technicality.  Their steer was better than yours, accept that and try again next year.

If the calf that won NAILE was the calf that was supposedly buried in Des Moines and Omaha and he came out and won Louisville what does that say about Iowa cattle shows?  Pretty damn tough huh??  If the rumors are true I think the Iowa boys just showed everybody where the good ones live :)

I don't know when entry deadlines are for Louisville, I know KC is DNA'd Aug 1, but it would be nice if they were after the midwestern state fairs so you could try and pick up a calf late so you only had to mess with the thing for a couple months before you showed him.  It was also be nice market for the kids after the state fair if they could get 4-5K for their steer instead of just cutting his head off for $86/cwt.

Pretty dang nice calf.  Congrats to the winners.  I cannot find a fault with him, from a pic.  I guess the whiners will have to try harder.

Saw them in person. He was sure massive enough, but there were more choke necked ones (that didn't lack mass either), and he didn't travel or stand dead straight ahead in the front wheels. He was good enough to be in the hunt though. It wasn't the total screw up job that some folks are making it out to be. My favorite was the 2nd in the same class and the classwinner of Schnoor's but when you put two pretty close ones side by side for Farrer he'll take the color most times. The Daniel's family had a great NAILE from what I saw. Good feeder pen, a nice SHorn heifer that did well, and the fat steer. Congrats to them.

I first off want to make sure that I apologize if in any way anyone thought  I was bashing the kids or their families.  I'm sure they worked hard and any win is a big win they should feel proud.

I was at NAILE for 9 days, stalled 3 aisles over from the champion pens, and i will say that could've been the best red steer i've ever seen.  from what i saw in the show ring and in the pen, he was sound enough and plenty stout.  He may not have been the freakiest fronted one there, but from what i've seen in the past, when a steer gets fat, his front end generally won't be as cool as it was when he was little.  Granted i don't get around as much as some to the other majors, but he was a good steer and i think he deserved to win the deal. I will say that a lot of good steers got left standing, but i expect this at louisville because if you're goin to drag one across the country for a show, he better be a good one and some of the best steers out there end up in louisville every year.  From what i gathered talking to several different ppl, the reserve steer was a sun seeker, which could easily explain the hereford look cause ss will throw some wild color.
