What's the best place to put yur steers in the winder in a pasture or dirt pen that most likely would be muddy. Would havibg them on grass throw them off feed since they'd probably eat it. What do you guys all do with yours in the winter.

We have frozen ground in the winter.  Frozen turds provide cleats for traction on icy areas.  (clapping)

If I had grass at all times I'd run them on that year around.  Unfortunately, in Illinois we get every type of weather imaginable and in February, March, and April we get the mud.  My new cattle runs will get a test.  They are 60 wide by 450 long and I still think I made them too short.

If you have grass run them on it, if it is wet they will tear it up a bit. Our calves had a grass pasture they picked at it but ate their feed and hay first. Does help keep them quite abit cleaner.

Side note: I'm not trying to be a smart @ but try the spell check at the bottom, I think you were in a hurry or had some typos. I have the same problem so I always us the spell check prior to posting

Construct a heavy use pad to keep them on when the ground is soft. We keep our cows confined to a heavy use area that is not that large all winter clear up to calving time. We bed with corn stocks and the cows have minnimal cover. We are in Ohio
