Dirty Hairy Bull

Looking for advise on using Diry Hairy on a heifer.  She is a massive heifer, but needs to be cleaned up in the front end.  Not interested in cutting a calf out of her, and I heard this bull has a good BW.  Any help would be appreciated.

This may not help much. But we bought our first Dirty Harry heifer this year. We are really happy with her. She is out of a Heatseeker cow and is long bodied and growthy for a HS. Hairy is okay not too shaggy and her temperment is great considering what some of the heat seekers can be like.
I know there are folks on here that have used him in calving ease situations. Maybe bumping this top willl get you a reply or two.

he worked great for us, our show heifer from last year won our state fair as a calf. She was the first calf that we ever raised and gained alot of friends in the show ring and is now a promising young donor. He definately worked on our cow, a moderate framed stout but slightly chubby necked heatwave. My heifer is the same way.  Moderate framed, but very thick.  Front end is too bulky in my opinion. I was hoping he could clean her up.  I look forward to what other people think.  I'm always looking for suggestions.  Thanks for the comments.

in most cases he will put a good front in them, and everyone that we have dealt with has a super attitude. calving ease has been good for us as well

we used him last year (spring 09 calves).... cleaned up the front ends on everything he was used on........all calves came unasssited roughly 70-80 #'s(one easy pull more or less jsut so we didnt have to stay up in the night and wait for her to calve)................. clean fronted, good sided,  O0HAIRY O0 , could use more bone but no complaints for a heifer bull... keeping 2 heifers as cows sold one as a market heifer. sold 2 steers by him..... we'd use him again. any other questions feel free to pm me

We raised 4 Dirty Harry calves this year. All came in 80-85lb. range. Tremendous hair on all [mothers have good hair] really good attitudes [puppy dog type]. All of the calves sold as show calves 2500 and up. Will keep using him. Heifers grow to moderate frame and appear to be making good mothers.

Raised several and seen alot of Dirty Hairys calved real easy all became too straight, wouldn't touch one of them

I would agree.  Have had 20 or so and the good stout ones are all too straight.  Again I wonder why we continue to do this because most of the bulls out there are the same deal.

Had a dirty harry out of a heifer, 90lbs unassisted. Cow need more extension up front and he put that in the calf. He added thickness and an awesome front to the calf.
