Was wondering what does everybody pay for a donor to get flushed and transfer embryos.  Also what kind of conception rates does everyone adverage on their recip cows.  We are considering to flush a cow this spring and i was interested in how everyone else does  Thanks for any info.

We don't flush a lot, but we happen to be flushing two cows tomorrow! I just recently went thru trying to figure out how much to expect everything to cost...

Expect set up to be btwn $250-350 & should include drugs for the donor....our embryologist supplied everything except the CIDR and heat detection. If you're synchronizing recips, you'll need CIDRs and Cyatorelin + Lutalyse for them as well, and that will be in addition to everything else. If you're setting them up urself, that plus travel expenses should get the cow flushed. You can expect another $50-100 PER EMBRYO to either freeze them or put them in...most I talked to were $100 per to put em in fresh and maybe less than that to freeze the embryos, then you pay again when you have those thawed & put in.

The last cow we flushed two years ago made 25 number 1's and the total was about $1,300. We froze most of those that day because we had very few cows avaable to put in fresh eggs.

As far as conception, it's kinda like AI...timing is important, and there isn't a lot of room to be sloppy about technique without hurting your conception rates. If you get 50-60% I think you're ahead of a lot of folks. A lot of guys who sell embryos will guarantee 30-50% pregnancies if the buyer uses a certified embryologist, and I don't think you should go into it expecting more than half of what you put in.

We put in 9 frozen eggs last spring and got three out of nine...I was disappointed with that, but I think some of those may have been compromised because of the weather conditions the day we flushed that cow in December... It was MISERABLE outside that day!

When we did ours last year its $100 an egg. That includes the drugs and everything. Then we pay $6 a day care while she is at the facility. When we implanted frozen embryos it was $60 an embryo to put in the cow plus the set up drugs and cidrs. We average about 12 embryos a flush and last year we were at 75% conception on the embryos. It doesnt always go that well tho.
