For making show calves, anybody know of a homozygous black bull (breeding red cows, do not wish to have red show calves). TH carrier or white on face is ok.

Just do a search on the ASA website and put in the criteria for homo black & homo polled bulls. You should come up with a list to sort through.

Thankyou, Any of those bulls carry the horn gene?

I know One Eyed Jack is Homo Polled and I believe Grand Fortune is too.

I like Flying B Cut Above, aka Fat Butt. Does anyone think this bull could do what I am asking?

Universal Semen Sales has him as Homo Polled and Homo Black, however the ASA doesn't have that information. The ASA only show him as hetero polled, hetero black.

ASA lists him Homo Black Homo Polled, ABS lists just Homo black but I've used him on commercial projects and everyone used him again. We may use him on some PB cows that have some good numbers this year. Hard to beat pedigree.

Did you mean Sheriff Taylor? The ASA link only takes you to the herd book, and I though since the poster before you was talking about Cut Above (Fat Butt) you were talking about him. But he is not listed as homo black or homo polled. And the ABS link takes you to Sheriff Taylor.
Just clarifying. Have you used much Sheriff Taylor? I have not cared for what I have seen, but typically love Macho progeny.

Yes I was talking sheriff taylor. I love the calves. They grow way better than epds say they do and they actually beat out Upgrades and some club kings few years ago when we used 10-12 of each bull. I don't know why the link does that sometime!

New Homo Black, Homo Polled, Outcross Purebred baldy that is sure to sire a set of stellar fancy made progeny!
