Would it be cool to have committee or a annual get together or meeting for Durham Red people. Since they are breeding them maybe they would know how to promote them better. Or maybe a annual event like the Polled Congress for example. We could have a secret handshake and everything.Just a thought.

Would there be robes, kool-aid, and a secret midnight ritual involved? Just kidding, but really I would be interested, but I don't raise any DR yet...don't know of any anywhere close to here.

Probably not enough interest. We could be like the small number of people who started the Red Angus breed. Things like marketing and defects could be discussed between all 3 of us. ;D

aj.... I like your idea. I would be interested in such a group. MY first DR's arrive in Feb/09. They are ET Mulberry's from two of my best red donors. I can't wait to see them as I am thinking this should work. If it does, I will be doing many more for the next year. This could be just like the Water Buffalo Lodge on the Flintstones.( my all time favorite TV show).

JIT I might be interested in one of those.I'm still trying to get a handle on the marble bone deal in the RA. I have heard Mulberry is a can't miss deal.

OK how about this....have an annual event in Denver. 1st year would be a get together. 2nd year ...we would have a small sale down in the yards. 3rd year a little bigger sale.It would of course would be tied to Shorthorns yet it would probably be aimed more toward the commercial direction. Or would it work better farther south where the red color might be appreciated more. It could happen.

I'm in, I may be completely sold on the Durham reds.  Two calf crops from a DR bull average birth weight has been less than 80#.  Had 9 heifers calve to him in the spring and have already sold five calves  as show prospects with an average price of $1223.00 not great money but great for me especially out of  heifers.  I have one calf we just brought in over the weekend that was born late and she is flat good.  I will try and get a picture of her tonight.

Count us in!  We love our DRs.  Will try to post pics soon.  We don't show at Denver (politics) so wouldn't be attending a get together there.  Maybe someday at Phoenix?
