Ebony's Trademark opinions

What are the good, bad and ugly opinions of Ebony's Trademark - I know that he has been around a while and is still used some - what are some of the positives and negatives of the bull?  What are his strengths and weaknesses?

What frame size is he and what about the longevity of his daughters?  Am considering using on frame 6 Angus cows - is that a logical choice?

He is a really nice Simmy bull that we have used a bit.  He has been used quite a bit in the Simmental breed since he is an outcross to Dream On and Joker lines.  He is a Power Stroke by the Black Irish Cow Ebony Antoinette (probably my favorite cow ever).  He is a maternal brother to Built Right.  He is heterozygous black so he will throw red ones.

The calves we have gotten out of him have a lot of depth and profile very nice.  They all seem to travel very well.  If I had any complaint on his calves, I would like to see a little bit more width on them, but it is more than adequate.  He also puts quite a bit of front end on them.  He has sired a lot of very functional cattle. 

I have only used him on purebreds so I cant say for sure what he will do on Angus.  I have used him on heifers without any problems as well.  His mature frame is a 5.9, and his cattle seem to follow that number pretty closely.

He has quite a few sons that are starting to show up.  The Foreman, Savvy, Trendsetter.

i have had several Trademark show heifers over the years, they all did well & produced better than themselves, is'nt that what we want of our broodcows!!

I am so glad someone ask this question, we were looking at this bull also. We have 3 cows of the same blood line that have plent of butt and gut, they need to be cleaned up a touch in the front end.

Question, which is better, Trademark or In Dew Time? How are they similar and more important, how are they different in how their calves look? What kind of cow does each need? Thanks in advance.

Add another bull to the opinion/comparison equation - NLC Fortunate Son - what is the evaluation of this bull?

Yes, the trademarks are pretty good.  I have several in production.  They are easier to get bred and milk better than the Dream Ons.  I also have used In Dew Time some and had good results.  Haven't used Fortunate Son yet.  So much depends on the cow.  I think the art of breeding cattle depends more on how you mate them than just using the hottest bull at the time.

i like trademark he goes back to two great bulls ibk and x339u          we kept a trademark son to breed and the calves have so far been impressive      our trademark cows are proving themselves in the herd and the bulls sell well

I've used In Dew Time quite a bit and he clicks with every cow I've mated him to. He won't add muscle, but they are very sound, lots of body depth and eye appealing. He's worked best on larger cows that need to be scaled down. I'm a big fan and I plan to keep using him.

Haven't used Trademark so can't comment on him.
