86G has been used by AI more than 8G was.
86G registration # is 3986086 and he was born in 1997. He did a good job at Studer's and has been used in several other herds in recent years. I believe your best buddy, John Sullivan is using him as well. 86G was a good calving ease sire, and his calves are moderate framed and thick made. They are also pretty structurally sound and have some natural muscling. IMO, he has been one of the better breeding Eionmor bulls in a while.

Another guy who has used him and a couple of his sons is Kevin Kimmerling. I tried to by an an Marquis son he is using called K-Kim Crf Amazon. He had a really nice set of young females sired by Amazon. Very good bodied sound made females.

I remember Willard Hartley a neighbor and Shorthorn breeder say.....don't use Shorthorns that are used east of the Mississipi river. That was in 1970 something. JIT I think Willard was on to something. Anybody have comments west of the Mississipi?

There are good cattle that can work anywhere in most any part of the US, Canada or most anywhere else. I have seen some cattle born west of the Mississippi that shouldn't be used anywhere. Any animal can be born most anywhere. It is up to you as a breeder to be smart enough to figure out what cattle will work in your operation and which ones won't. Their physical address should have absolutely NO factor in determining whether an animal will work for you or not.

I always liked the k-kim Franklin bull that Galbreth purchased- have not seen he or the progeny.Will said:

A&T renegade is a son of Marquis and he and his full sister were chunks . Might add that recently I saw
Renegade and his maternal brother- Rawhide.... very similar in type and deep dark red.

I would have to say that he is one of the better bulls I have used artificially. I have 2 daughters in production, both 2010 models, and according to the ultrasound they are a.i. bred for 2013 which impressed me. Sold a nice son to a commercial guy in wyoming in 2011 and also sold the renegade bull to JT Moreland Farms in OH this past spring. I ai bred over half my heifers and a bunch of black cows to Renegade. The only thing that makes me mad with Marquis is that I got a stocking legged bull calf out of him and my solid red Titleist 441 donor last year!

Doc....I assume that states like Iowa known for corn production always had an abundance of corn and the cattle always had corn in front of them. We didn't have much corn here till at least the 60's(irrigation started in the mid 50's). Now western Kansas has alot of corn and infact the feedlot inddsutry moved out here. Corn burns the rumens out of cows and makes them less effiencient on roughage.....thats a fact. The bugs in the rumen are different for a ration of 5 # corn aday than bugs in the rumen for strictly forage. I think there is less of an idea that cattle are a hobbie and a social event out here.......I don't know Willard was just a damn homophobe I suppose.

Saw some Marquis sons in Argentina, not impressed me. Have semen from a Marquis son, used it, also not impressed me. Isn't our cattle type.

Say you had 3 bull calves out of that mating. Marquis x 441. 2 solid red and 1 red w/ stockings. Being that all 3 calves have the same genetics, is the one with the stocking any more likely to throw calves with stockings that his other 2 full brothers?

I have a Marquis 86G son in use as a herd sire now. I LOVE the Marquis line-- they are flat out working for me.
My heifer group this year that are by the Marquis bull are all solid dark cherry red and all look the same-- when they stand at the bunk, you would have thought they were all the same calf over and over. This is the best heifer group I have gotten from this bull so far. I used him this summer on all of my heifers- I have never had to worry about BW from him.
I do have 3 of those bred heifers for sale if anyone is interested.
My Marquis bull fits the profile as some of the other breeders comments-- stout, muscular. Dale has even commented that my bull looks a lot like the old Marquis except mine is solid red.
