whats the most expensive embryos? in scotland last week there was 6 red native aberdeen angus embryos made £6520 a piece thats about $10800 canadian

I was at the sale - price didn't make much sense - could've bought the half sister in calf for 4400 pounds & she wasn't even the high selling red. Most of the cattle sold in the 4000-6500 pound range so as I said the embryo price didn't make much sense.

I offer a minimum pregnancy guarantee of 50% at 70 days following implantation, and I have only had to replace 4 embryos in the last 10 years. That is over several hundred embryos sold. In my own herd I have found varying results but usually I averaged between 50-60 %. Three years ago, I implanted 19 embryos and had 19 ET calves born. The only other time that I have achieved this, was the first year I implanted embryos I put 17 embryos into recips and had 18 heifer calves born. The first embryo split and we had identical heifer calves.
I have often wondered how much your environment plays in embryo pregnancy rates? The reason I think about this, is that we sell lots of embryos to Scotland, Ireland and England and it seems they always have excellent results from the embryos they implant. I sold 10 embryos to a Scottish breeder and they got 10 calves from them. The next year they purchased 10 more and they had 9 calves. The following year the purchased another 10 embryos and they had 8 calves born. They wondered what they had done wrong in the third year. I assured them that 27 calves out of 30 embryos was much above average results.

A lot of variables on implanting - quality of embryos themselves (I have purchased some extremely poor ones, and have learned to put them all under a microscope and reload before implanting), management and heat detection of recips and quality of vet or technician putting them in. We have been running over 90% on fresh embryos and about 75% on frozen since we got all these things in line.

embryo's are usually 400-2000 in the angus breed right now!  there are always some nice deals out there places.  we use sirebuyer and have sold lots of our embryo's on there.
