WE HAVE A SHOW STEER WITH  REAL DRY FLAKY SKIN UNDER IS BELLY AND BEHIND HIS FRONT LEGS ON HIS SIDES. IT WAS CLEARED UP NOW IT IS BACK. WE KEEP HIM AND HIS PEN CLEAN, PLUS WE HAVE TRIED THE VINEGAR WATER AND HE GETS CONDTIONER EVERY TIME HE IS RINSED, AND THAN HE IS BLOWN COMPLETLEY DRY.  THE DARN THING HAS EXTREMELY SOFT HAIR AND SKIN BUT THE FLAKY PATCHES ALMOST SIMILAR TO RAIN ROT CAME BACK. ANY SUGGESTIONS, TRICKS OF THE TRADE WOULD HELP GREATLY. THANKS.

How many times a week do you wash?  If it is a fungus, treat asap..  We are having trouble getting rid of a fungus on one of our heifer's head, right now.  If it was a fungus he would be loosing some hair in those places.    Also, I would spray him with Sullivan's Revive several times a week, after he is washed & dried.

We had some stuff like that on a steer that had really dense hair.  We mixed up a betadine scrub mix and washed him with it twice a week.  If you scrub those areas really well and then used it to wash him with, let it sit a few minutes and then rinsed out, it may help.  It did help us clear up the steer we had.  It does stain around your fingernails etc, so we wore latex gloves.  If the calf has white on it, I might think twice if you are showing right now.  Good Luck

Try using Revive. It's really oily and helps a lot with dry skin. Spray it on and rub it into the areas that are dry with your fingers. Blow and leave in.
