Yep, good truck, dependable motor, with good fuel mileage.  I always had issues with front ball joints once you get past 100k miles.  The ford ball joints are non greasable, but you can replace them with a greasable type.  I can't think of anything bad to say, owned two of them for quite a long time.

Don't know for sure-- would imagine so.

check rear end for metal, u-joints for play, fault codes on the engine and injection system, injectors replaced under factory warranty or other.  if they have been replaced, it's money in the bank.  also, i can't remember if they have the smallest radiator or not, but you can get upgrades for those, but i think the zinc into the engine might need to be bored out, i can't remember.

My brother just bought an 01 f250 with 160k 4x4  four door short bed with the 7.3 beast. It came with an edge programmer. He's had 3 7.3's and a 6.0.  If the price is right I'd pick it up

Ford's 7.3L is the best diesel truck ever made.   I sold my 2002 7.3 4x4 Crew Cab a little over two years ago
for $18K with 122,000 miles.  I'm now driving a Toyota Tundra 1/2 ton, and wish every day I had my 2002  Ford.

If tou can buy a 7.3 worth the money, jump on it!!

i almost bought one for 10k, but it needed the repairs i listed on things to look for.  it also was a manual and the clutch assembly was loose and it needed a new clutch and brakes.  the repairs alone amounted to almost the sale price.  probably any vehicle with use is going to be like that.  trouble with this one was that it was also from a ford diesel mechanic so i ran as fast as i could.  it was chipped and a few other upgrades, had one bad injector and a few other problems.

Stay away from 04s on up with miles-sensor problems-in the engineand transmission-injector problems-goes on and on. You may not like Dodge Cummins-but they are by far the most relable-and simplest (in terms of computer-electronics and -fuel system) O0.

I got an '01 f-250 7.3 4x4....  171k.  Ball Joints, wheel bearings, wiring harness on the engine...  check the rear out.. my rear went out and caused a crack in the bell housing of the tranny... new tranny now.  The 7.3 is the best engine Ford made for those trucks, that is why I have kept it.

Personally, I think that's too much for a truck that's basically 10 years old already.  Although if I lived in parts of the world that don't have winter and salted roads like we do here I might think otherwise.  I just hate seeing rust on a truck with a near $20,000 sticker.  Just my vent for the day.

I've got a '99 F350 just like this one and it has 120k miles on it and I would be hard pressed to take a penny less than what they are asking. But then again, even with the $20k I would have to put down on a new truck after selling mine , it would be hard for me to justify financing $30k plus to replace it with one just like it.

That's what guys get for the 90s 7.3 strokes down here.  Those just keep going and going though.  Our 96 f250 is at 185k with year old front end, year old rebuilt transmission, was near perfect body(getting back that way) until hail storm came thru.  When we got it 6 years ago, it had all original parts, only like 60k, used rarely to pull antique tractor to shows, and stored in garage, no fifth wheel yet.  The first year was rough, finding what mice had gotten into and a bad chip that had been put in...and the original battery.  So, so many people have tried to buy it.

We run fords in our fleet (well we have been, looking at the others now) We had one of our superintendents get 450,000 on his 2000 F350 with a 7.3 in it, they replaced the rear end and tranny at around 300000, it is still running, we just use it for a temp vehicle when the newer fords are in the shop getting their Engines worked on. We have had nothing but problems with the newer diesel engines, the 7.3 was the real deal. We bought 2 2012s and the first one had the check Engine light come on at 30 miles the other made it to 45, and 2 2010 blow at 30,000.

I had a guy ( original owner) offer me his 1996 4 door dually 4X4 with 5 sp,  82,000 actual miles, just put new clutch assembly and injector module.

His wife uses it to go to a few team ropings a year.

I've always been told and I believe, that it is hard to go by kbb and nada.com for values on 1 ton trucks . They always seem to bring more than book price.

JD dealer offered my uncle $30,000 for his IH 1066 also, but that was on a new JD tractor with a hell of a price tag. It was their way of negotiating down from sticker price, but with the benefit of the buyer feeling like they're getting a great deal and "have to" trade up to cash in on the price for the trade in.
