I have K-State going 9-3. They will get beat by KU,OU, and Missouri. I have K-State slipping by nu,CU,Texas Tech etc.. Maybe wishfull thinking but I think alot of people will be looking past state. They have some meat on the defense line this year. A experienced O line and some new kid at running back may surprise some people this year. ;D

ILL-INI  I think we're a lot better than the preseason 23 that they gave us.

I geuss Shortdawg is the lucky or unlucky one, depending on how you look at it with his  (dog) being picked #1. They've got us Vols at #18.

Big MSU Spartans fan but I think we are still a year or two away from playing with the big dogs in the big ten. Will be interesting to see what Rodriquez can do in Ann Arbor this year. From what I read in the papers, he have made a lot of changes to the way practices are ran and can be a bit crude and demanding. Has not won over all of the players to his style and had some players leave so maybe the rest of the league will get a break if Michigan is in a "rebuilding year"

I have to go with my Texas Tech Red Raiders.  I think this is the year, with the experience they have on offense.  I think they will have a improved defense.  Mike Leach aka The Strange One, will have the number one offense in the country.  It the year of the Pirate.  Get your Guns Up!!!! <cowboy>

I was about to start another college football post and you beat me to it. Last year I predicted LSU to win it all and that the DAWGS were a year away. This year WILL BE THE DAWGS YEAR ! They have the schedule, talent, and coaching to get it done if they don't have any major injuries. They will probably lose a game b/c they just have too many great teams on their schedule to run it out. There are 6 SEC schools ranked in the top 25 and UGA is one of them and they play the other 5. If they get through that schedule undefeated or with one loss they deserve to be National Champs. They will get it done and I will be in Miami to watch it. I really expected Kentucky to be anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2.  I expected them to give the big boys in the SEC East all that they could handle this year & then some.  However, that was before Curtis Pulley got kicked off the team.  Now I am not so sure.

I think that Mike Hartline will be OK at QB, but he doesn't have Pulley's freakish athletic ability, he doesn't have his experience, & he probably doesn't have as much arm strength as Pulley either.  Still, Hartline is not too bad in any of those categories.  I think that we will be OK at QB, but probably not great.  Our receivers are very talented, but they are also very inexperienced, so I'm sure they will have their good & bad moments.  Our O-line isn't looking as good as expected & that is a HUGE concern!!  However, I wouldn't trade our running back group for any other group of running backs in the SEC.  We have serious talent at running back.

This is the first year Kentucky that will actually play defense & I think that the rest of the SEC is in for a rude awkening.  Gone are the days of Kentucky starting a bunch of freshmen & soph on defense, which has been the case the entire time that Rich Brooks has been the head coach at Kentucky.  All the staters are now upperclassmen & there are no weak links.   Jeremy Jarmon @ DE (Featured on Football Saturdays in the South) & Trevard Lindley @ corner are as good as anyone in the SEC at their positions.  Kentucky will go 285, 300, 305 & 290 across our starting defensive front & those boys aren't slow pokes.  We will also go 240, 250 & 235 at linebacker with good speed.  With Lindley & David Jones at corner, and Marcus McClinton & Ashton Cobb at saftey's.  We may not have the best defensive unit in the SEC, but I think that our defense will be one of the better defensive units in the SEC.

In the last 2 years we've beaten the likes of Georgia, LSU, FSU, Clemson & Arkansas.  We have also given Tennessee all that they wanted both years (including 3 OT's this year) & we were within a TD of Florida.  If we get solid, but not necessarily spectacular play, at QB & WR, and if our O-line gels like they should, I honestly am expecting a better season than last 2 years & I am expecting to beat some more very impressive teams.  But, that is a lot of "if's" & Kentuckys coaches aren't satified with the QB, WR & Oline positions at this point in fall camp... that has me concerned & and we only have 2 weeks left until we play Louisville @ Louisville.  I guess what I am trying to say is that I'm optimistic about this season, but I'm not quite as optimistic as I was a couple months ago.

Shortdawg don't mark UK down as a W just yet.  ;)

TJ, I said they would lose a game, they play 8 SEC games and you know as well as I do that is as tough as it gets. The only game that should be a done deal would be Central Michigan ( sorry DL ). UGA don't lose much out of conference but the Arizona State game should be tough in their house. It is humbling to me to see them ranked # 1 by the coaches more so than by the AP. They may totally disappoint me but, I've waited all my adult lifetime for them to have a team with the potential they have now. I would like nothing better to get a shot at the Men of Troy in Miami for all the marbles. As I said last year, the best thing that happened to them was the TN loss. They have been a different team since then. Coach Richt saw that his team needed an attitude and they've had one since.

I am going to have to go with K-State,  I like 9-3, but NU or Tech has a good chance at beating us.  We have one of the most experienced O-lines in the nation, and a QB that improved tremendously last year if he makes that kind of improvement this year WATCH OUT!  If we can just get the D to step up like the teams of the late 90's and early 2000's then we could make a run at not only the Big 12 north, but a BCS bowl also.  JMO

I'm going to disagree if it wasn't for the fact that ISU is absolutely horrible KSU would be in the north cellar. I personally think Prince has no killer instinct in him and was only hired because he is a local guy. Signing all of those juco guys is the last act of a desperate man and I think shows their inability to recruit at the high school level. As much as I hate to say it I think KU and Mizzu are very talented and Nebraska is still a few years out of being back in contention. Hawkins at Colorado is also going to turn that program around and he has already shown that he can get good recruits. I think Tech is the due in the south. On the national level got to go with Georgia and Ohio St.

I know that you said that UGA would lose a game, but I was assuming that your 7-1 SEC record probably included a win over KY.   ;)  I am not saying that we will win, just don't think that it wont be an automatic W for UGA.

Honestly, I don't know how we are going to play with a young offense that is not exactly pleasing the coaches right now.  However, I do think that we will be better than last year, if our offense is pretty solid & by the UGA game, it should be.  And we were in the UGA game last year up until the last final few minutes, with most of the same players returning & this years game is being played at Kentucky.  We are literally bigger, faster, stronger, deeper & more experienced.  But, like UGA last year, we may be 1 year away, since we will be playing a few freshmen on offense & have a Soph Q-back.  Then again, we may just challenge for SEC East title this year.  ;)  I'll know more after the UL game & even more after we play Alabama.

I know that people probably think that I "know not what I am talking about".  However, I boldy told everyone in the preseason last year that we would be good & we ended up beating 4 teams that played in bowl games, including the National Champs (LSU), Arkansas (The only OTHER team to beat the National Champs), FSU & Florida Atlantic & we were even ranked in the top 10 at one point.  We took TN to 3 OT's.  We were within a TD of Florida & we were within a TD of UGA until the final few minutes.  Considering the level of competiton that we played, I think that is pretty good.  If the O is fairly solid, we can be everybit that good or better this year.  I'm cautiously optimistic that we could finish as high as 10-2.
