I still am a believer in JR Conquest 62K for shorthorns. Thay are not big and get up and go. Females make nice cows that mature early and don't get so darn big. Two pics attatched. The first one is the day I bought him back from a commercial customer that used him 3 years and realized he was different for a SHorthorn. Second one (fat) is when he came back from Genex in Billings MT.

Used I-80 on a heifer this year and the bull calf came unassisted. Nice bone structure, sound, and LOTS of hair.

Red Towaw Integrity 17M. Red Angus bull that works and is a great heifer bull. I have attached a picture of Integrity plus an Integrity heifer last won her class in Denver.

What kind of BW do the Basic Instinct calves have, purebred or crossbred?

We use the angus bull OCC Legend on all of our heifers for the first year unless they r shorthorns, then we use jake's proud jazz.  Both bulls do a good job on keeping the birth weights low but still being able to have a marketable calf in the end.  The OCC Legend heifer calves also usually make great replacement heifers.

I really like the looks of this bull, if anyone has any more experience with him please share! And when you suggest if you could post links to the bulls that would help a ton. Thanks for the suggestions, this is helping me make a much better decision on who to breed to.

And that Duff Basic Instinct bull is really nice too but couldn't find BW info. I'm also looking into Northern Improvement, Total Solution, and Majors Money Man. Really opened my eyes to some awesome bulls. Will be looking at Ali and sons also because I think they'd be highly marketable around here

I just had a 60lb Total Solution calf out of a Leroy Brown 1st calf heifer, came unassisted. Also had a 75 lb Predator out of a Dr. WhoXChar 1st calf heifer....it also came unassisted.

I have got a show heifer that I am thinking about breeding to the new bull of Trausch Farms called Young Money. He has a 78 lb BW.

Northern Ice has been doing a really good job. He is a Northern Improvement son out of a real powerfull habanero cow. His picture is in the 2011 frozen gold catalog.

Durham your JR Conquest 62K bull sure looks like he should sire some length of body and really extend a calf through the frontend. Does he do that? Nice looking bull!!

Easiest poroven calving ease PB Angus bull that I know of, hands down, is OCC Homer.

But I like..

1. Northern Improvement-onto ground sows, put a square hip in them, and pretty them up, and give them "the look".
2. OCC Legend-onto bigger framed if you want to down size while adding guts and good udders and muscle.
3. SAV Final Answer-add some growth and deepen them up, addd belly and guts.

These three are all PB proven calving ease Angus bulls that will also give you a good phenotype, and make good replacement females.

We like Easy-Out, he has produced some good heifers for us 60lb birth weights.  They are turning out to be some of the best momma's in our herd.

I like Eye Candy. We had a hereford cow have a 75 pound black baldie who looks amazing. Then my first time heifer had a smokey heifer, about 70 pounds without assitance. He tends to have more females, the black baldie heifer has amazing hair and that sure isn't from her mother.

I wouldn't use Doc. Have heard of some big ones out of him at a friend of mines place...

We had another Total Solution calf today from a Sunseeker heifer. Small and hyper. in the 50lb range. I'm sold on him

Had a buddy that pulled a 120lb dead calf from this same mating last year.

I also like eye candy  a great deal but i dont think he would be a good choice for a heifer bull alot of the calves  we have out of him are 85 plus pounds  i really like the northern ice calves we have out of our heifers and they come at about 60-75 pounds and are all painted up if thats what your looking for    i also think saginaw will work on heifers the few that i have seen have been right around 70 pounds and look pretty impressive so far

i heard he brought $6500 but i do not know for sure
