Finding recips and co-op herds

Is Transova the only ones who sell pregnant recips? Is there any good herds to put embryos in and buy back a weaned calf

many places will.

they may or may not have all the "quality" control that transova does such as mineral licks, implant in cows that have calves at side as opposed to buying who knows what from who knows where.

places usually make available proven recips, but of course everything comes with a price.

pricing differs, but expect to pay a premium over market price for their trouble.

one could also take say 4 year cows with good size pelvic openings, previous easy calving, etc. etc. etc.

the nice thing about some of these places, is you only pay for the confirmed pregnancies, not the ones that didn't stick.

of course, that's all factored in, but carrying forward the costs of a preg recip past the ones that don't stick is a fair offset.

this is not trivial
