I am new too the cattle business. I never was around them growing up. I did work with pigs just out of high school for a while but in production not show stock. My oldest son got involved 4 years ago in 4h with pigs by a neighbor of mine. It was just his way of getting us into the cattle. I have really begun to enjoy it and wish I would have done it earlier. I found this site a couple months ago and have learned at least one thing everytime I log on. I just wanted to say thanks to all of the experienced people out there posting their knowledge for people such as myself. Also, I have attached a picture of our first calf. She is out of Smokin' Joe X Basc Cover Girl.(My oldest son's heifer from last year). My youngest son is in the picture.

Well welcome I understand exactly where you are coming from. my kids got involved 8 yrs ago and now my daughter had 5 bred and owned calves this year and will have 9 cows calve next year. good luck enjoy the ride it is some absolutely great time as a family.Oh and nice little heifer by the way (welcome)

Thanks for all the compliments on the calf and my son. It's nice to hear that it isn't just because I'm bias.
