We are just getting ready to flush this purebred maine cow that is out of Intense Plus and a Yardley cow. The reason we are flushing her is none of her heifer calves have left the place and she has produced several herd sires. Plus, she always throws a big top with a huge hip. All of her calves are sound. We are flushing to sexed Whizard semen to make replacements and then conventional Heetseeker. Lastly if both flushes go well, we will flush to Ali. Thoughts?

Like all the choices-wonder what Comfort Zone would look like-His dam is a deep ribbed Canadian deal-and this cow is the same type-and he seems to put an unmistakeable hip in them O0
Good idea. We have a WMW cow and a Fast Freddie heifer (that will calve this spring) that we'd to use Comfort Zone on.

Looks like a good candidate for Choppin wood or Hard Whiskey
We really considered Choppin Wood pretty hard. We just wonder with our cow being a powerhouse that the calves might get a little round in their muscle shape.

I have a friend that has a train of a cow. She is thick as she is tall as she is wide. I have said year after year- Hannibal for some females. But he flushed her to some more popular clubby bulls. Calls tend to be heavy fronted round in muscle shape I agree with your critique on Chopping Wood. Alias would be a better option. Enough of WMW in there to extend and clean up a front.
Maine- Unstoppable is a bull we will try. Reliable friend was able to see him in the flesh. He said real deal. Clubby or not he is moderate correct and thick. His calves this year seem to be gaining popularity. You said she hit the mark with what bulls? I would use that as a blue print and analyze those bulls and find some comparable matches. If you want to sell eggs look for brand name if not for your own use use what worked in past. Heat Seeker could be a good one on her from the picture you posted. She is long enough through her front one third it should extend the calf out some. good luck!

She worked great with Ali as her first calf. The bull worked great for the people that owned him. Her Dr.  Who heifer was really stout. Her Point Taken bull is working excellent for the people that owned him. We flushed to Monopoly. There are several bulls out of the flush that should work well. All the heifers didnt leave the place. The down side to the flush is some weren't great in their forerib. We won't sell eggs. The Whizard heifers will be keepers. My wife knows Jeanie Griswold and I don't think she would fabricate anything to my wife. She told my wife that Whizard is really working well for them. She knows our cow's genetics also. I think it will be a great pairing especially with heifer semen. I thinkthey will make club calf mommas. The Heetseeker calves we will sell.

I agree with Ms Griswold as well. Whizard will compliment her genetic makeup, especially producing females. Infusing more Maine genetics is tricky, IMO... One must be careful with too much of a good thing and often doing ability and fertility will diminish the more you inbreed other Maines' into the equation. Werning's also has some great Sim influence bulls that could possibly work.

We appreciate the comments from everyone. We have thought about injecting some sim genetics into our small herd. A little extra leather doesn't hurt either because the resulting calves wouldn't get too tightly wound.

The reason I mentioned Comfort Zone is that he seems to add such a square hip-like the clubby Shorthorns used to have -and she needs something pretty level hooks to pins JMO-plus hes a rare combo of maternal and thick.I also had a heetseeker x midas from DMCC that is older but a real good cow-so they arent allways terminal. O0

We just might do that. We have a little time because we're flushing to Whizard first. We're taking her next week to the facility.
