I know I've mentioned on here before about my 2007 Ford King Ranch Dually that SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAINTED LEMON YELLOW......due to numerous injector problems along with a wide array of other things that started at 2000 miles and hasn't quit clear up to right before the snow storm this week whenever the injector controller went out!!!! at 64,000 miles.

This time I finally had ENOUGH!  I had a semi-annual payment due December 13th, and I informed Ford credit......along with Ford customer service.....that they would not receive another dime of my money until they got it right and also extended the warranty past 100,000 miles....due to its CHRONIC NATURE.......I fully expected NOTHING and have NEVER MISSED a payment in my life......BUT......I was prepared to give it back to them and fight them in court if it went that far!  I told them I didn't want it replaced, I just wanted it like it should have been when it was built......I kept my cool and was very polite and to the point.

Well guess what........they EXTENDED the WARRANTY to 200,000 miles or 7 years (whichever comes first), and guaranteed when it left the shop that it WOULD be right.....I'm still in SHOCK!  I know there are a bunch of bad injectors in pickups out there and if you have a similar pickup story to mine, I'd put the heat on customer service.....I was told they know they've got to get better in a hurry, and maybe they ARE TRYING NOW, for a change!

is there any question now, why ford is the only one of the big 3 that did not file bankruptcy?

i'm kinda looking forward to the new 6.7 liter ford manufactured diesel engines in the 2011 models. maybe they fixed all those bugs that plagued the 6.0's and 6.4's.

XXCC and I are still driving 1995 7.3 Ford's.  I have over 305,000 miles with the same engine, transmission and rear end.....  I bet Mike can say the same........ the wiring horniest, vaccum pump, clutch and sleeve have been problems.....

hmmm, a 6.7 huh, what next, a 7.0?  then back to the 7.3 where they should have stayed?

You have more patients than me, I broke down and bought a duramax with an allison transmission.  I have been a ford guy my whole life but after they went away from the 7.3 they just can't compete with dodge or chevy with their motor.

Never had a diseal, but my last ford had 377,568 miles on it when I traded it. All orginal except for brakes. Still ran like a new one. I bought another 11 months ago, it has 34,000 miles and has been nothing but wonderful. Gets 14 MPG, my old one got about 15-16.
One reason I stuck with ford - I figured my tax money bailed at all the other truck makers, why buy a truck TWICE? Chevy and Dodge should have been giving them away to those that bailed them out! Didn't the gov't just release they were going to lose $40million on the auto bailout?
Plus, who can argue with 377,568 on a gas engine?

Glad you stuck with it jbh. Sounds like you might finally get it resolved.

I got rid of my '95 f250 w/7.3 , 3 years ago . It had 285k miles . It was a supercab & I wanted a crewcab. I found a '99 f350 cc dually w7.3 & 67k miles. I had heard enough horror stories on fords' other motors I was bound & determned to stick with old tried & true.
As far as Fords' new motor next spring, I hope it's a good one but I won't buy one the 1st year out of the gate. I bought my 1st ever brand new truck in '87 which was  a '88 Chevy 3/4 ton when they changed the body style & some other things. It stayed at the dealer more than in my drive & swore then I wouldn't buy one again the 1st year that a dealer made a major change.I ended up going to arbitration with them & they put a/c on the truck (I was younger & dumber then & didn't think I had to have it in a truck) , but they never could fix the problems.
I'm like show heifer , I told my wife that the next vehicles we buy will be Fords. She drives a Chrysler Town & Country , & I drive a Chrysler Pacifica & we have no complaints it's just I think I should try to help support someone that stood on their own two feet.JMO.

One of my partners who is on the road everyday with a trailer,  just bought a new Chevy Dually and it's left him stranded twice already in less than 4000 miles!  I think they've ALL got some ISSUES!  That's why I wanted to just keep mine.....thinking I'd eventually get ALL THE BUGS worked out of it.....BUT, I not betting on this strategy either!

It's just SAD that for $55,000 dollars or MORE...... you can't FULLY TRUST a vehicle to get you from point A to B.

I had an 02 7.3 flatbed that i got used. Ended up trading in as it was to big to drive at school and it didn't really fit in the parking deck. Now a 2010 F250 with the 6.4 and I love that truck. Got it with 20 miles on it, and couldn't ask for anything better.

What kind of mileage are you getting with that 2010?  I've got an 02 V10 that has been a great truck since the day I bought it.  It has 124K on it.  Hubby has a 04 6.0L that has been a lemon as well.  Bought it with 34K on it.  Now only has 78K and spent $2,000 in 2 years to keep it running.  Of course it's all things not covered in warranty.  Trying to decide what to trade it on....  Dang tough decision.  I really need a "grocery getter" as opposed to my F250, so I think we'll put it up for sale as well.

The 2010 gets around 12-13 in town as long as you don't dog it bad. I haven't gotten on a good road trip yet, but the guy I keep cows for has an 08 250 and he's gotten about 15-16 on a highway trip.

here is my take on the diesels :
We had a 1994 F-250 Ford turbo diesel (NOT THE POWERSTROKE) - it still had the old fuel pump on it. it ran like screaming demon and would tear up and road when you tromped it, hauled the same way too, it was an automatic so the only problem was when going uphill it like to shift into the next gearabout 80% of the way up. other than that awesome truck

Also have a 97 powerstroke with almost 200k on it, only thing done w/ it was a new A/C unit last week and a new front end (fixed that dumb twin i-beam suspension) about 4 years ago. this truck has been through about every situation possible and starts right back up everytime, i know this b/c  i drove it in high school, lol. the motor is as strong today as it was 10 years ago.

Dad drive a 99 powerstroke 7.3 supercab w/ manual tranny, minus the electrical problems been a dang good road truck for his job and now been a good farm truck. have had to replace the clutch about 3 times in its life, can't tell you how many miles on it b/c the odometer has been messed up and records every other mile, but about 230K i guess.

Lease a 99 powerstroke 7.3 crew cab dually for a show truck, this was screaming demon, got 20 mpg at 80 mph with a trailer with 5 head of breds on it. lease was up and went to buy it, well ford had the 0% finance for 6 years so we bought a new 2003 w/ 7.3 powerstroke, have been impressed with the power and torque but the MGP is terrible- on the best day w/ the added performance put into motor the best  we get is 16mpg  w/ a trailer

wife has 98 dodge 2500 regular cab 2x4 automatic- great ruck, if it was a 3500 and better truck. gets better MPG than the rice burnercar my sister owns lol,

if i had to buy a diesel truck today it would probably have to be a duramax, w/ the allison, but then again i would probably look for a 99-2001 dodge cummins, ford 97-99  with low miles first!!!!!!!

the best part about the old trucks is i can even work on them , not a computer monkey at the dealer and can get parts at AutoZone

FWIW, I make my living selling body shop equipment. Last month at a meeting with the head of Fords' crash & repairability dept. , we watched the crash test tapes on a '04 f150 & a '09 f150. It was unreal the difference in the 2. At 40 mph the 04 you wouldn't have been able to get the doors open, on the 09 they could still open. It is rated the safest truck on the market & I can see why. They were able do this thru newer , lighter but safer stronger steels that help the gas mileage .

it is hard to believe that any ford with 200,000 miles on it is still original.  I know of 4 trucks with 6.0 and 7.3 motors, that you can feel or hear every bump or pebble on the road. If they havent had any problems then they are full of bull. Or they dont see many dirt roads or pastures

I've got a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with a Hemi...came with a "lifetime engine and powertrain warranty, $0 deductible".  And for $1500 I bought a "lifetime bumper to bumper warranty with a $100 deductible"!  I drive a lot of highway miles for work (105,000 miles in 2.4 years) and actually got 94,000 miles out of the original factory tires!  When they put new tires on, the mech asked when I put new brakes on...said I'd never touched them!  He just shook his head.     I told my 7 year old he will get to drive it someday, as we have no reason to ever sell it with the lifetime warrantys...most it will ever cost us is $100 to fix.
