Finally reached the point of no return with my 6.0 liter Ford diesel.  $4,000 on the turbo, it might be going out again, injectors going, no power, fuel economy dropping like a rock.  The truck intself is nearly perfect, other than that engine.  I wish I had a quarter for every person that's come in my office needing to borrow money to fix their 6.0 liter.  $4,700 for injectors, $3,000 for something else, more than one person told me it cost them between $3,500 and $5,000 a year to keep it on the road.  I'm looking at a copy of a proposed class action lawsuit settlement that the court approved in May, but its being appealed so we won't know anything for at least another 2 weeks.  For my $4,000 turbo repair bill, not to mention the other $1,000, at least, we spent on motels, emergency rental cars, etc., we'll get $750!  For those of you who've spent $4,000 or more on your injectors, the proposed settlement will give you $375 for the 1st injector and $125 for each additional.  Of course, there's also the proposed cash for the EGR and oil coolers.  Looks like there might have been more than one issue with this motor!  Then, of course, there's the next to nothing trade in value.  Some of the people that have come in my office have told me that when they try to trade them in, the dealers have told them they don't want their 6.0 liter at all.  Makes me feel good that the attorneys, according to the settlement, will get $12.8 million in fees and $1.25 million in expenses.  What a deal!  I had no major issues with my 7.3's, but this 6.0, that's another story.  Thank goodness they make other kinds of pickups.

A breeder friend has a son that works on Ford 6.0 diesels - says they drive em the "fix is easy and cheap" .... but Ford apparently likes to charge more?  So the son has purchased several 6.0 diesels real cheap ! If you are looking to sell. PM and I will see if they are looking !

From talking to guys the 6.7 isn't much better. We have a friend that his has been in the shop the past year more than its been used. My parents have a neighbor that does conversions where he takes the 6.0 body and puts a cummins in them. He has done several in the past year. I had a 7.3 and it was a great truck but currently we have an older cummins thats all mechanical. Hubby drives a semi for a living and hates having to go plug into a computer to know what's wrong with it.

Turbos and injectors were the two biggies with the 6.0's quit buying oem stuff and go aftermarket.  Better power and fuel efficiency.  There is a reason that ford had to sue international over who was going to pay the warranty repairs on the 6.0

Part of the problem is "the son has purchased several 6.0 diesels real cheap."  That's exactlly what you get for them when you try to sell them or trade them in.  Next to nothing.  Ford got a huge settlement from the builder of the engine, yet I get $750 for a $4,000 fix, and they KNOW its a problem.  NO private mechanic around here will touch the 6.0s.  Some won't touch the Duramax, either.  A friend of mine told me about the Cummins slipped into the Ford body, but he was 2 days too late.  He said the 7.3's won't work or were extremely difficult to fit, I can't remember which.

You havent even touched the surface on the nightmares Ive heard-sensors going bad inside the auto trannys-all kinds of things-they are flat out JUNK:and Ive seen three with Cummins swaped into the Ford Chassis.-I had 4 Cummins from 1990-2005-and they were absolutely relable-other than injectors (certain years) the GMs with Allisons are pretty good too. Now-Dodge is coming out with something like 382 HP-and some huge torque figure and an Allison Trans-Thats gotta be the almost perfect beast-that is-If you have $50-60000 O0
