Finally reached the point of no return with my 6.0 liter Ford diesel. $4,000 on the turbo, it might be going out again, injectors going, no power, fuel economy dropping like a rock. The truck intself is nearly perfect, other than that engine. I wish I had a quarter for every person that's come in my office needing to borrow money to fix their 6.0 liter. $4,700 for injectors, $3,000 for something else, more than one person told me it cost them between $3,500 and $5,000 a year to keep it on the road. I'm looking at a copy of a proposed class action lawsuit settlement that the court approved in May, but its being appealed so we won't know anything for at least another 2 weeks. For my $4,000 turbo repair bill, not to mention the other $1,000, at least, we spent on motels, emergency rental cars, etc., we'll get $750! For those of you who've spent $4,000 or more on your injectors, the proposed settlement will give you $375 for the 1st injector and $125 for each additional. Of course, there's also the proposed cash for the EGR and oil coolers. Looks like there might have been more than one issue with this motor! Then, of course, there's the next to nothing trade in value. Some of the people that have come in my office have told me that when they try to trade them in, the dealers have told them they don't want their 6.0 liter at all. Makes me feel good that the attorneys, according to the settlement, will get $12.8 million in fees and $1.25 million in expenses. What a deal! I had no major issues with my 7.3's, but this 6.0, that's another story. Thank goodness they make other kinds of pickups.
