Did anyone here attend the shorthorn show Sun morning?  While I've been going to the stockyards for years, this was one of the first times I've sat through an entire show and really paid attention to the judge and his placings.  I have to say I was very impressed w/ the placing the judge made.  He was a guy (I think the VP) of Express Angus Ranches.  I was able to pick the class winner in every class except one and then I blew it big time ( I would arge the judge did (lol)) on the Grand Champion both bull and female.  I just couldn't believe it.  I was so big on this judge the entire morning.  Really explained himself well- and for the most part, viewed the cattle very similiarly as I do.  And then for him to pick those 2 overall  ???  I wouldn't have selected either but hey... what did you think?

Xbar we had the second place in the second class yesterday. And like you I was very impressed with the placings all day, he did a great job all day, I didn't have a problem with grand, reserve was questionable but his whole drive had the same type and kind of cattle or at least in my opinion, he could have gone several different ways. Good show all the way.

So you're telling me the breeder that won reserve grand bull and female in the shorthorn show went on the judge the Angus show? A breed the shorthorn judge happened to be with?  Talk about conflict of interest....before I go on, how'd the Express heifers do?

Cates and Express probably get Champion or Reserve every year at Fort Worth no matter who the judge is.

I like the Danny D bull when I seen him in Louisville. I also thought that RC Damn Proud would have had a very good chance of winning that show. Obviously, the judge liked Danny D over Damn Proud but I'm curious XBar to your thoughts on that matchup and whether D Proud should have been reserve?

I was in the same alley of the barn just 20 ft from both Danny D and Damn Proud in Denver with my stock. I liked both of the bulls but liked Danny D just a little more cause he is TH free and Damn Proud is THC. Neither did very well in Denver.

The Angus show was first. And express did very well. Not saying that either program shouldn't have done as well, just thought it was a pretty interesting situation.

I did not get a program so I don't know them by name.  Was DP the single entry roan bull?  If it was, I feel that bull was just too small. Short coupled too.  I liked Cates roan bull and also there was a younger bull w/ white stockings and a lot of white on him that I thought was really good.
