Very good solid bull, very complete end to end.  I took the picture, it took about fifteen seconds.  He walked into that stance and we were done, very complete individual.

It's very risky to use an unproven bull on heifers. I like the bull too, but I think I'll wait and see what his first calf crop looks like.

I flushed him to VCL Mona Lisa a pure bred Maine, WOW offered $15,000 for one of his heifers, all of his heifers were great however I was not impressed by the bull calves though. I will flush to him again and I'm keeping all of his heifers.

We bred him to a heifer and she had an 83 lb heifer calf with no problem.  Slipped it right out.  Hit the ground running.... literally!  Tons of vigor and just continues to grow.  We are very happy with Amigo at this point.  The cow was avg and no world beater.  The heifer will be a couple of steps better than the dam!  Overall, I like him.... and this heifer.  I will try to get a pic if you are interested.

I have 9 Amigo calves on the way, they should start showing up march 28th. On tuesday we had our beef meeting and I had a customer not only say he had used Amigo on heifers the last two years he is doing several heifer projects this spring using only this bull. His only complaint is that they mature a bit smaller than he wanted them to but the quality of the calves kept him coming back! I hope this helps. <cowboy>

We had our first Amigo calf last night, hit the ground about midnight and was up and looking for an udder very quickly. I was a little concerned because of the fresh 8 inches of snow and 10 degree weather but she calved on some straw and he never looked back. He was born out of a 5 year old All Beef cow, about 78 lbs. I will keep you posted on the rest.  <cowboy>

Here is our Amigo calf, out of a first calf heifer (Pace Setter x Built Right cow). He was a little crooked when he was born, but straightened out in a few days (too little space in uterto). His face seems to be crooked, like one side is longer than the other. His right eye tears a lot also, not sure if the two are related. But he was 72 pounds, and born unassisted.

I agree with all that the bull looks very appealing. 

I had a friend that used the bull two years ago (calves born last year).  He had a terrible time with nursing.  He said they had excellent vigor, were up and in the right area aggressively, but could not latch on.  Had this issue with all of them, not just one.  This seems really strange.  He said he had never seen it before...had to give them plenty of time and be patient, or else put it in their mouth.  He liked the calves but gave up due to this.....

Anyone had an experience like this?

we had about 8 amigo calves this year... had no trouble with calving ease ( highest birth weight was around 90) - most come from first calf heifers, did not have any trouble with vigor or nursing, they look like pretty good calves as of right now,

to Husker1 -- did your friend have any other sired calves that did that?? sounds kinda like a mineral deficiency but who knows w/o actually investigating the issue
