Ok so here is the deal. I have 2 heifers I'm trying to decide on a  bull for and while looking up their genetics it seems to be limiting my options.

Heifer #1
Sire- Frisky Whisky
Dam- Believe in me x pale face / who made who

Heifer #2
Sire - Front and Center
Dam - Believe in me / Total Solution

MY issue - When i search the sires and dams genetics it seems some where down the line they all have father or grandfather blood lines with the majority of the bulls im looking at.

Thees genetics are in both heifers -Walk this way, heat wave, dream catcher, who made who, irish whiskey, ali, ect.  When searching the sires of the bulls im looking at using they all seem to lead back to each other in some way or another. 

Where is the break in the bloodlines to give the ability to use a bull or not. I dont want to be inbreeding or anything like that.

Suggestions on bulls or info to help me with the rules for breeding without crossing the genetics to close.

If they're heifers you wouldn't need those clubby bulls any way use something purebred and shoot to get some consistency back in them and sleep a little easier when they get ready to calve

My main concern is breeding to close. Some literature would be great but I'm coming up a little short with Google.

What are your goals for the calf?  If your in Texas, breed to the best Brangus bull you can and hope for a steer

Maternal, I would and have used SAV Brilliance or Simplicity for Maine , both good calving ease bulls.

Many people smarter and wiser than me here on the Planet have said live calf is the goal.

If you just need bulls with a proven track record I'd look at Tejas or Slider. Other than that, just stay away from any of the clubby stuff for a year or two.

My main objective is not breeding too close. Ive been reading up on it and understand it can cause major defects.

For example if my cows mothers sire is the same sire of the bull we breed with is that too close?

I do like the bull slider and his genetics are not in any of my cows.

This is were it gets tricky with selection Both of the new heifers have Ali, heatwave and who made who in their blood lines somewhere and it seems every bull i come across that I say damn that would be a nice fit has one of them in its blood line whether it in the mother's sire or the fathers sire.

It seems that those 3 bulls are in everything now days.

Our shows are all filled with the clubbys . big bone big hair. If you don't have that you don't compete.

I want my kids and nephews to be able to compete but be safe and ethical and without hurting our females or coming up with a dead or defect calve.

Heatwave IS THE KISS OF DEATH-you will not have any problems coming back with any number of Ali relatives-Like Comfort Zone, Daddys money, etc, Slider and Jakes Sultan of Jazz are unrelated and are as clean and heifer safe as there are PERIOD of ANY BREED-There are others-Grizzly, Limestone Trifecta on and on-the worst thing you can do is overthink the deal and do something stupid because its unrelated- FIRST PRIORITY LIVE CALF, plus-the backgrounds on them dont sound real bad anyways-other than anything Heatwave, Monopoly ET AL And for some real calving ease shag-just look at the Galloway thread  next Moto Moto calves-pretty dam good to be out of first calf heifers-and as stout and hairy as you'd want to make one first time out. O0

Slider has worked very well for alot of breeders. I sure I am bias as I bred Slider and own him but I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and would love to earn your business.
