Depending on how many cows you have, I think he may be worth collecting.  If he significantly improves your cows, and your other bull(s) are very different in their pedigrees, you could do a (semi)closed-herd thing for a few years and end up with a very uniform (and good) set of cows.

He is an above average bull, but I don't see any reason to collect him. Now if you get GREAT calves out of  next year it may be an option, but I would let him prove himself before I even considered it. I really don't see anything in him that would make him a better choice than today's top AI sires. I'm not trying to be harsh, just trying to be realistic.

I have been around a while and i know that a bunch of these AI sires are just a pretty hair/clip job .

Say that about the calves they sire, because I've seen alot of herd bulls phenotypically identical to yours that sire some good calves, but I've also seen the calves out of the same cows that are ai's and there is a world of difference. Mind you I said phenotypically, so this statement may not hold true for your situation, but it does for most. JMO.

By the way, nice bull, no he isnt a big time promo bull but I wouldnt mind cleaning your cows up to him. But probaly not worth your time or money to collect him, if you want insurance on your investment, I think it'd be cheaper than collecting him.

I would see what he sires, then decide wether or not to collect. Phenotypically judging I would say no, but if he throws them good, go for it.

I think collecting him is an option to keep open. After you see his first set of calves you will get a better idea of how good a bull he truly is. Some bulls really put their stamp on calves, others don't. Some look good and make their calves even better, some do the opposite. You never know with all that genetic material at work!

Okay , this is the last post from me on this . Thanks for all of the compliments from everyone on this bull . To the rest see the origional post . I said he would be a future clean up bull . I did not say he was the next great sire or that I was planning on promoting him . I collected my last herd bull for my use . It doesn't cost that much !!
