my uncle bought one last year, she reminds me alot of maximus sired heifers....... i would also like the same info your asking for i have one bred to him due mid march out of a first calf heifer

We've had  6 hit the ground. BW have not been bad 70-85#. 3 have been out of 1st calf heifers, one out of a Sunseeker heifer that had to be pulled. The other 2 heifers had them on there own. There young (less then 2 weeks old) but to be honest not as impressed as I was told they would look like, I will give them a little time before I reserve final judgement.

I would have to strongly disagree with rtm. We have had 8 Grizzly calves to date. all have ranged from 72 to 80 lbs. we have not touched a single calf. 2 were out of mature cows the rest are out of first calf heifers. All of our Grizzly calves have a good square hip, adequate bone, blaze or Motely faces, and good extension through their neck. We AI over 200 head of cattle, using around a dozen bulls. To date with around 30 AI calves on the ground I would say Grizzly and Mercedes Benz have been our most consistent calves. Very happy with both bulls. Oh by the way our herd is a mix of commercial angus cows, 1/2 blood sim out of Macho, 1/2 blood Maines and a few high % Maines. This has been our experiences, will definitely use him again next year.

I would be anxious to hear how they grow out.  I am not sure how old grizzly is, but I was suprised not to see any grizzly calves in Guyers's sale.  Does it look like he adds any volume of body?  Probably too early to tell?  How are the Mercedes Benz calves?  Low birth?  Stout?  I would guess them to be pretty stylish.

Yes the birth weights on Mercedes Benz have been great to date. We have calves out of first calf heifers and mature cows. Cows range from commercial angus, % sim, % Maine, high % Maine and Simmental. Our calves have ranged from 68 to 79lbs. We have only pulled one calf because it was comming backwards and feet were folded backwards ( not bulls fault). All the calves have been very stylish with a very cocky look to their front 1/3. Good square hips and good boned. We have one that is 2 1/2 months old and even though he was a small calf early he really has caught up to be a stand out at our place. Kinda like Ali, you gotta give those calves a month or two to truly appreciate them. Hope this answers some of your questions. Feel free to call with any other questions.

Had our first grissly calf last night.  Calf came 8 days early.  BW 110# and was a heifer.  Had to pull.  Momma is a Meyer 734 granddaughter 1st calf heifer.  Cow was fed NO grain, just grass hay.  Have 11 more to go.  Hope the rest are not as big!!!

(clapping), Sure is good he's " calving ease" and the heifer calf came early!! Can you imagine how big that one could have been if it was over due and out of a bull that wasn't "calving ease"? I'm getting axnously parinoid as the days go slowly  by. We bred some of what we think are our better 1st calf heifers to the calving ease bull, Grizzly. I @ least hope that we can get them out the rear exit!!!

i have seen a few and heard of many more.  first was a c-section about 95# on first calf kadabra, heard another say they pulled everyone except the 1 they cut out (about 14 total) and another guy told me he has had good luck with him on about 10 sim/angus heifers  nothing over 90 lbs. 
My concern is that he does not look like nor carry a pedigree that would indicate he is sure fire calving ease.  Stout boned, big headed bull that has 1 dose of GCC Grizz in his pedigree combined with Hotmail and Black Bear. 
like any situation, I would only take a chance on a bull bred like that on angus or angus influenced females that do not carry any birthweight in the pedigree.  I am fairly confident that he is not the answer for most clubby bred heifers.

I THINK Chap is saying that it's only one shot of calving ease.  I used him on some wet 2's, Did not look like a calving ease pedigree to me.

My point exactly jbw.  He only has 1 shot of calving ease genetics in his immediate pedigree and does not have the look and build of a calving ease sire.  I think you can get along ok with him, sans any birthweight issues on the females that you breed him to, but i would not expect that pedigree to be a bw reducer.  as with any so called calving ease bull, it is best to see some calves first and then make a decision on heifer breeding.
