Half chute vs. full chute

Hey y'all,
I was wondering what everyone thinks about the half chutes / what's good and bad about them.
The aluminum full chute from Sullivan just seems so expensive!

The deal on the 1/2 chutes in my opinion is the calves had better be very broke. You get one at their 1st show that is constantly swinging to the side, you are going to have a wreck pretty quick.

Doc, thank you for responding! My calf is broke and doesn't mind the blower too much. He does swing away from the blower occasionally. Do you think that he would flip a half chute?

If the calf is big enough and if he gets enough of his body to the side then yes. Watch him close enough you might be ok.

What are the instructions for getting a calf out of a chute that is flipped?

Honestly, we pretty much just quit using chutes all together.  I know that they are necessary sometimes, especially when they are little and just learning how to be a show steer.

Once they have been to a few shows, we found it so much easier to just fit them in the stall.  The stall type of "chutes" are pretty awesome and so much lighter to tote around.

In my opinion, get a full chute and then get a stall chute.  Once they get broke you will just leave that heavy full chute home.
