Praise God, it's finally raining here in Southwest Oklahoma. We've been in a terrible drought here for several years. Just last week I had to save 3 catfish from a little mud puddle, in what was formerly a pond at my dad's house. It's been dry. Last night it was pouring rain when I went to bed, and it's raining lightly this morning when I got up to feed the calves. God is good.
This morning I'm a thankful man. My savior lives. Today is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, and his victory over death, sin, and the cross. To be totally honest with everyone here, I struggled for years to find meaning in Easter. I understood what it was about, but had a hard time putting my finger on its significance. Over the past 10 years it's come to mean something more to me, and I think I can honestly admit that now I get it. Christ's resurrection is the validation of his whole ministry and proof that he was all God, not merely another well-meaning man. It's a pretty simple concept really, but my simple mind sometimes doesn't grasp even the simplest of concepts.
When things were at their lowest point for his followers and disciples, they woke up Sunday morning to find an empty tomb. He wasn't there. He said he would raise the temple again in 3 days, he said he would rise again, and few understood what he was talking about. The religious leaders of their day understood, as did the government & they paid the guards to tell people that the disciples had stolen the body. The fact remains that thousands of years later, we're still celebrating that morning when the 2 Mary's went to spread spices on their savior's dead body, only to find an angel and some really freaked out guards where Christ's body should've been.
It's a great day to serve our risen Lord. I hope everyone has a great day today.
