Can somebody set me straight on this deal? Phil Lautner owns 2 bulls named Heat Wave. One was born 4/30/2000 reg# CA293213 the other was born 6/12/2000 reg#401231. From what I gather the bull born on 6/12/2000 is the Heat Wave that we all know, but on Lautner's site the 6/12/2000 bull is listed with the other bulls reg#. We know Heat Wave is out of Heat Seeker. Is the cow just a guess? Or did they just now find out what cow he is out of.

It is my understanding that lautner lurks around here on SP. Maybe they could shed some light on this subject?

Same bull, not sure why the BDs are different but the CA reg number is the Chianian association number and the other is the Maine association number.

Why Does he not have different names? I have a maintainer/chi and the names are different with each association.

I think they DNAed him to her then they got the Maine assc. number. Might not have known the info for the Chi number years ago.

Phil bought the original Heat Wave bull from Max Fawley. HW's dam is a Taz daughter & has been @ Trans Ova for most of her days.

If you look at heat waves first ads he was advertised as out of a playboy cow.  Then she became a taz daughter which maybe what she really is.  So i am sure they had to blood test to figure out what the cow really was for registration purposes for the maine assoc.

Also heat waves mother has been at trans ova since heat wave was born.  From what i heard years ago she would not breed back after having a c section.

Im pretty sure taz in the dam to heatwave.

Theres a guy on this site that owns a bull named See-N-Starz who is out of her if i remember right.
Yeah you are right. See-N-Stars is a maternal brother to Heat Wave out of Star Power. You would think a cow that produced HW would have some other progeny you would have heard of if she has been getting flushed. Cause the only other one i heard of was See-N-Stars. She should be like 11 or 12 years old cause I know HW was her first calf.

If I'm correct, there is about 3 full brothers to HW (red bull, wave runner, gold glove) and a slew of maternal brothers (see n starz)...  None ever did work out like ole HW himself...  course non got bred to 1/2 the cows in the country either!!

I think those names are right.. if not, they're close...

cattle.com still has HW listed as a HS x playboy

is tom farrers ( red bull ) a full brother to heatwave.?

That is correct and if you do a serach Chambero or CAB were suppose to use him and let us know how he turned out. I prefer reds and thought he might be a good option. But I haven't herd much about him.

by default, it's impossible.  the more freaky and hole filly in, the more inconsistent they are.  that's why it takes really smart people to breed them.  thats a major reason why access to some bulls is limited in the beginning so they can get bred to the best cows, the buzz gets out and you never hear about how they do on regular cows.  marketing is more important in most industries than results.  i bet you anything that if more of the "winner" cows were posted that had great calves out of heat wave were posted, he might even sell more semen so people would know which cows to buy and more of those cows would get bought.  but it's important to keep it all a secret.

The c section you speak was Heat Wave himself. She has been flushed to virtually every popular bull in the last decade.... Meyer, Friction, Madrid, Reload(herf), Heat Seeker, Godfather, Star Power.... i've seen calves out of most all these matings... she produced the AI bulls Red Bull, Wave Runner, Gold Glove, National Treasure, See N Starz.... She is a Taz.

I own half of a friction x HW dam heifer. She will be a coming two year old in April. Hopefully will get her bred this spring. Nice heifer with a variety of ways to bred her that could be interesting. As someone else pointed out, HW dam is a Taz cow (Teri is cows name).
